"thanks Dave. had probs with 2 salamander pumps and after sales, are saying I need a negative pump even though I have positive water flow - think they're just trying to pass blame! my plumber says ST x " Has the pump you had installed worked for long or on and off? You can get an air switch to make it work if they say its negative pressure but you only need 6 inches of flow for positive situations.

"thanks Dave. had probs with 2 salamander pumps and after sales, are saying I need a negative pump even though I have positive water flow - think they're just trying to pass blame! my plumber says ST x " Positive head if the storage tanks are above pump negative if storage is below pump . also pump needs a designated cold feed off the cold water storage tanks and a designated hot off your hot water cylinder usually via a " Surrey" flange

"thank you, yeah engineer told me that but then plumbing merchant and my bathroom fitter differ slightly saying don't need neg as there us water flow, I have a shower valve so I still need Surrey flange?" As long as the storage tanks are above the shower head a negative head is needed. By regs yes on the surrey flange it will mean that if another hot water source is turned on In the house hold it won't affect the shower temp

"If your going for a Stuart Turner pump. Go for the monsoon range. As they have brass internals. Stuart Turner are cheap range with plastic internals. How old was your last salamander pump. Have u got a model number of the data plate. " had 2 salamander pumps go in 3 months, once at installation and the other after 2 months use. it was a tc85--684. engineer said I should've had an esp 100 neg as tank not 600mm from shower head but it is above shower head and there's positive water flow

"so are we.agreed? Stuart Turner, monsoon range as.copper bits - we just need to.agree on what number bar and whether I need a positive or negative my bathroom fitter and merchant say positive as there's water flow, and storage above " http://www.stuart-turner.co.uk/contact-us/ give them a call they will let you know exactly what you need and are very helpful. But Monsoon is way better than the showermate plastic range they offer.
