Ive just watched an american woman who was horribly disfigured by her ex husband and it resulted in a "face transplant" What an amazing lady who has been so brave and has also forgiven him for what he did.

She said that by forgiving him, it allowed her to get on with her life .

Could you ever forgive if faced with such a horrible attack on yourself ?

Hull

Not a chance.....there are some things that should never be forgiven. Put away in a box to allow the person to move on perhaps but forgiveness for something so horrific??

No chance..

She said that "forgiveness" wasnt about "him"

She never would condone what he did but to forgive allowed room in her life again and wasnt eaten up by thinking about it anymore. I admire that kind of thinking but not sure i could be so forgiving in those circumstances ?

in the night garden

If it meant me moving on and having closure I would hope I could. But I'd imagine it would be close to impossible in reality.

Unless they invent really cool face technology like John Travolta in that great film Face-Off.

But surely you can move on with your life without forgiving him.

I don't think I could forgive no....but I think I could pick myself up and move on with my life without thinking about him anymore.

She looked ok and the surgery was fantastic but as yet couldnt move many parts ,mouth etc.

She even met the face donors family.

I sat there gobsmacked and her bravery was so humbling.

The bastard who did it, first beat her and broke half her bones and then sprayed her all over with industrial lye. Then waited till the cops got there.

the surgeon said it was the worst he had seen in all of his career . husband got 70 yrs in prison

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Forgiveness is hard work and I understand her point of view. I haven't had anything as horrendous as that but I forgave the man that battered my head with an iron bar (he was a stranger to me). I forgave the man I loved a long time ago for what he did to me. Doing that helped me move on.

I haven't got to the point of forgiving my son's father for not attending his funeral and I know I need to in order move on from that anger and hopelessness.

I am going to go onto plus 1 to see the interview.

Maybe she needed to move on from that and not let it control her life and her forgiving him started the healing process. Things manifest, And resentment can eat away at your mind and body and become like a disease a cancer .
