Soup recipes

Following on from MissC's post saying she's got a pot of soup on the go it got me in the mood to also make one.

Here's what I have in.....

Lentils

Onions

Mushrooms

Rice

Various herbs

Veg stock cubes

Chopped tomatoes

Would I be a make a pot with the above ingredients?

The whole lot would make a lovely soup, i would throw the whole lot in and top with stock and simmer till all tender and bobs ya uncle

I do a fatfree one....

loads of chopped veg (whatever i have) simmered in stock with herbs ...when tender i add a large jar of passatta and a tin of borlotti or similar or some cooked rice. Tasty and filling

You could blend a little cream into it once cooked if you have any.

For 4 people /Little olive oil 100g chorizo , cut into small chunks

1 large onion , chopped

2 carrots , halved lengthways and thickly sliced

2 stalks celery , halved lengthways and thickly sliced

1 tsp smoked paprika

big pinch chilli flakes

6 tbsp red or green lentils

1 x 400g tin chickpeas , drained and rinsed

750ml chicken stock

parsley (optional)

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a pan. Fry the chorizo for 2 minutes, add the onion and cook for 5 minutes. Add the carrot and celery and cook for 5 minutes. Add the paprika and chilli flakes, and cook for a minute, then add the lentils, chickpeas and stock.

Simmer for 20-25 minutes until the lentils and veg are tender. Finish with chopped parsley if you like..I May had this is Jo's recipe Game4it2,she was kind enough to share it with us and iys absolutely devine

On a low heat about an hour

Till the lentils have just a bite to them....rice is cooked etc.

How many grams of lentils and rice?

Got a big pot that would last a week for a single bloke.

Never made a pot of soup before

Oh and yesterday's washing came out fine

A cup of rice....and a cup of lentils if it's a big pot

Not sure if I would use lentils as well as rice in a soup myself.

Otherwise the rest will make a nice soup IMHO.

My mom never measured anything but used "cups" as standard.

even pastry and it always worked out fine. Jamie oliver does the same
