"To a slow cooker .. Any nice recipes ?" Two things i wouldnt be without are my slow cooker and my 3 tiered steamer. I cook all sorts in it. One good thing is when i stick 2 frozen lamb shanks in it in the morning...leave them on low all day and turn off after about 6 hours...leave to go cold and the next day i roast them till all brown and tender...the meat falls off the bone. They are excellent for curries and casseroles etc.... go have fun | |||

I always strain off the liquer and boil furiously and then its ok | |||

"Are they safe to leave on unattended (while you're at work)? " Yes , on slow and if its a good make ...they are perfectly safe as they use the same as a light bulb. Thats why they were invented really, so people could come home to a nice cook casserole/stew etc. In the "sticks" some people still use "strawboxes" which work the same way | |||

Need all the help I can get " 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 4 large skinless, boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces- i use fillets for ease 1 onion, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced 2 teaspoons curry powder 1 tablespoon curry paste 2 teaspoons tandoori masala or a tandoori spice blend 1 teaspoon garam masala 175g tomato puree-i use a lot less especially if its the double concentrated type 15 green cardamom pods- never bothered with them myself 1 (400ml) tin coconut milk 200g natural yoghurt- i add double for more sauce salt to taste Heat the butter and vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Stir in the chicken, onion and garlic. Cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 10 minutes. Stir in the curry powder, curry paste, tandoori masala, garam masala and tomato puree until no lumps of tomato puree remain. Pour into the slow cooker, and stir in the cardamom pods, coconut milk and yoghurt. Season to taste with salt. Cook on High 4 to 6 hours, or on Low 6 to 8 hours until the chicken is tender and the sauce has reduced to your desired consistency. Remove and discard the cardamom pods before serving. Just be careful with the amount of puree, i followed this pretty much exactly the first time not realizing the puree i had was double concentrated!! Enjoy | |||

"Buy a big bit of gammon, stick it in the slow cooker with a few quartered onions and pour over a bottle of . 7 hours later you have melt in the mouth ham. We've just had some leftovers for lunch. Nom nom xx " All this is making hungry and glad I bought it xx | |||

I take it you just crumble the oxo cubes ? Do you make the gravy up first ? | |||

I take it you just crumble the oxo cubes ? Do you make the gravy up first ?" I add stock cubes and water and strain at the end of cooking and thicken then , gravy granules work good | |||

Dissolve stock cubes or gravy granules in it but make it a bit stronger than you would for a stew done in the oven or on the hob. | |||
