Get a jar of manuka honey. If you put it in hot water, let it cool a bit first.

Gargle and swallow...a mixture of liquid ibuprofen and cold water...eases inflammation quickly.

then alternate every 2 hours with tcp and salt water to reduce infection and heal.

Hot drinks as hot as you can bear are good (a tip from my tonsilitus days). And if you have a tickly cough chop a cm of root ginger and pour half a cup of boiling water over. Leave to steep and then sip and it will calm your cough.

Difflam throat spray is very good too.
