I pay £4.10 per shift I work, I think! £2.70 to get to work by tube and because I finish early I get the bus home which costs £1.40. I only do three shifts a week without overtime so per month it's less than £50.

I do agency work and have to be at the place of work by 8.15 ideally but by 8.30 at the latest. I can't drop the kids off til 8 so some days depending on where I'm working, I can only get a taxi. Still beats being on jsa. Some places I can get the bus in time. So my travel costs vary from £3 to £12 a day.

I used to walk to work and back and it was the first time I did it, an hour and a half, once I kept doing it though, I whittled it down to just under an hour, especially if the kids were off school
