South Coast

I had a new tattoo done yesterday evening on my ribs (photos to follow when less scabby!) but today it really stings.

Any suggestions as to what will help please? I've been washing it without soap and applying Bepanthen cream.

I was going to suggest bepanthem but you've already tried - it always worked for me. Not sure what else would help

I just used bepanthen and it was totally healed within 18 hours. I left the cling film on for a few hours and that stopped the blood and scabbing.

Forget Bepanthen go for Preparation-H instead. The one time I used Bepanthen I ended up with an infection, every other time I've used Prep-H and had virtually not itching and the tattoos healed quickly and the colours stayed vibrant...

Erm.... Out of 20 sittings i have only ever used cream on 1 of them I have never had a problem on any of them even the 1 on my ribs. Just avoid scratching and be careful of getting the scabs caught on clothes.

I would avoid washing it more than twice a day. Water is your tattoos worst enemy! I used to put bepanthen on and keep them covered with clingfilm for 3 days which does seem to help the heal better then those i've used just cream on.

Actually cling film is your worst enemy! Tattoos get warm when healing, that warmth promotes bacteria growth it also promotes sweat and the cling film keeps it all firmly against the open wound! If you must have your tattoo dressed then you should remove the dressing about 2hrs after the work has finished...
