Last week a bus load of teenagers were hurt when going on a school outing to the local college in Fife. The driver of a car was killed and only one child was seriously hurt - thats one too many for me tho.

I had to sign a form yesterday for my oldest to go to the local swimming pool today, the form was for the school to take my daughter in the minibus whenever they wanted and normally I sign it with no thought to anything other than my child getting to go on school trips, but this time I admit I did think for a minute before signing it - even tho I know its daft cos the drivers are well trained and are good at their jobs.

I feel for anyone driving in these road conditions - cos no matter how good you are if you hit a patch of black ice there is not much you can do.

My thoughts are with the families of all injured recently.

3 questions....

WHY? did the coach driver/company deem the roads fit to drive on

.

WHY? dd the school not cancel the trip considering the weather

.

WHY? did only one parent pull their child off the trip

First point, i drive and driver would be jobless if said no i suspect.

School really should of cancelled and that would of helped the above problem of a driver just doing as told by the bosses i bet.

That one parent will be both glad and extra hurting for the other parents i would imagine.

That all said, there is a code of conduct for all drivers, "Duty of care" and we all see it daily with citylinks etc belting by us on the M8, where theres feck all care apart from caring about the Arrival time.

My thoughts go out to all involved in the bus accident this morning..

But as a previous poster said, why did the school not cancel the trip??

We were all warned via radio and news reports on TV of servere weather, possible 30cm of snow was expected, dont drive unless neccessary...
