See this a lot on profiles - 'been swinging for 50 years but not hardened' what does this mean? Is it good or bad? Are there any hardened swingers? why don't people want to admit to it? but more importantly - what the heck does it mean? Z

Well i always take it to mean not bitter but hell i am prob miles off track on this one.

Think they are trying to convey that they have not become disillusioned by the scene? Maybe they are also implying they like the social aspects rather than the quickies...?

I always took it as those who were hardened were those whose life it completely takes over to the exclusion of everything. ??

I’ve always understood it (not hardened) to mean… still with a take it or leave it attitude.

It’s probably easier to explain by using a similar example…

Not hardened campers… enjoy camping once in a while for a change but won’t feel they are missing out if they decide not to go away camping in the winter and stop in a hotel instead.

Hardened campers… go camping every weekend and every holiday, come rain or shine.

Some peoples lived revolve around swinging, they live for it and depend on it.

To us, we would class them as hardened, as opposed to our outlook, we don't live for swinging, swinging lives for us. We pick it up and out it down as and when we please. If we don't have a meet in 12 months, we don't care so we'd not class ouselves as hardened, to us it's a hobby, not a full time job.

Surely it means that as they've been swinging for 50 yrs, they know all the tricks, can spot a fake a mile off, know the best hotels to use, the best clubs etc etc
