See them on the TV quite a bit.. 'buy the first one with all this free stuff for £1.99 and then we'll shaft you with cheap crap for £6.99 every 2 weeks after' .. well you get the idea

Has anyone ever bought a magazine with good intentions of completing the set?

I used to get 'Art Magic' and loved the illusions page at the back where you had to go boss eyed to see the hidden image.

I dont give my little un pocket money but she does look forward to a cbeebies magazine

Hungerford

I try to find out how many magazines are in the set , then work out how much it will cost overall. I was going to build an old sailing ship but it would have cost over £400 so I never started to collect the magazines. A freind started a set only to find that the company had discontinued the line and he never completed the build and the company didnt have the last few parts made for dispatch .

We got a few peppa pig ones for the apron, chefs hat, plate, cookie cutters and then cancelled it coz the stuff got crappy.

I had a really good one about serial killers years ago. You didn't get free stuff with that one though. Shame....

I brought the first magazine for that, then worked out the cost and didn't purchase anymore

My dad got a tank, he has all the mags just hasn't got round to building the thing.... Think it cost him around £400 too. I told him it would be cheaper to buy a pre built one...

You could probably import an actual old Soviet tank for that price. It would solve parking problems, right of way issues and would be ideal for visits to the rougher areas of town, too....

My gaffer started collecting the Marvel books that came with a magazine, but stopped after getting a dozen or so.

My daughter got the bugs ones. They send you a different insect or other bug encased in clear resin every couple of weeks along with magazine. Was actually really good, she got the complete set and the display cases.

I used to buy the charmed magazine that came with a dvd of 3 episodes. There were 8 series and around 22 episodes each series. All that money and I don't even have them anymore!
