"my brother thought it would be amusing to buy my daughter a ukulele still she loves it " Good. The ukulele is the new recorder. If you can put up with the early ear bashing it could be the beginning of a career or at least a world of social interaction non-musicians will never enjoy.

"my brother thought it would be amusing to buy my daughter a ukulele still she loves it " Ukulele's are fantastic. Get on YouTube and search Joe Brown's version of I'll See You In My Dreams from the George Harrison memorial concert, it brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. As for new musical instruments, I didn't get one but I've just ordered some parts for a guitar I'm currently building...

"On my wish list is a cavaquinho (posh uke) and a Gibson SG. Neither of which I'll probably ever get. " You can probably achieve the cavaquinho sound on a mandolin. Lose half the strings and adjust the tuning.

"On my wish list is a cavaquinho (posh uke) and a Gibson SG. Neither of which I'll probably ever get. " If you want my honest opinion I really wouldn't bother with the Gibson SG unless you like throwing money away! The Epiphone SG-400 is equally as good and if you buy one of the Korean models you get Gibson pickups. I bought my son one for his birthday last year over the full fat Gibbo!

Having owned both, my honest opinion is that your honest opinion is wrong" I've been playing them for over 30yrs, building them for 20, have owned several SG's and honestly the only difference are the tuners, the caps and the name on the headstock The only time I pay the extra for Gibson on the head is when buying a Les Paul, currently I have a 2003 Gary Moore signature (number 53 of 250 built) and a Kossoff signature and also one of only 3 electric blue MIII's from 1994, the rest are all old Strat's, Tele's and Kramer's.
