They are used to musak wherever they go. Every bar, restaurant or shop has either musak or sports on tv ... So from an early age they raise their voices to be heard.

Their culture is Germanic, their language English so they are an 'elbow culture' that needs to make an impression to be considered an active member of society. They still have maids, gardeners, housekeeper who tend to be much quieter.

Why do people start forum threads then get arsey if someone has a differing view? Do you have an alternative definition of the word "discussion?"

Your response just confirms what I already suspected from your op. Word to the wise: it's better to stay silent and to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt!

Costa Blanca Spain...

I suppose the real question should be.

Define an American?

Is he black or white?

or is he she?

Latino?

Native? (Indian as we used to call them)

Republican or Democrat?

New York liberal or Texas redneck?

Mafia boss or midwest bible basher?

Harvard graduate or Hillbilly?

Britney Spears or Bob Dylan?

The list is endless with loads of in-betweens.

I have met some wonderful Americans and have some as very good friends, and I've met some loud mouth American arseholes.

Pretty much the same as most Brit's Germans, and pretty much every other nationality.

I've spend loads of time in the States and have loads of American friends. Yes they're loud and often quite brash but they're wonderfully friendly, welcoming and kind people. The loudness is just enthusiasm for having a good time.

You can generalize any nationality

American - loud

Brits -posh tea drinkers (American view)

German - sunbed theifs

French - can't build cars

Russian - vodka

doesn't mean they are all like this (except the French cars)

I have been to America quite a few times and travelled it extensively, and found the Yanks to be very friendly. I have had some of the best times in my life over there!

That said, the American tourists that I came in to contact with in London were overly loud and generally obnoxious.

Americans are nice people, we made some great friends going out to Hedo. Loud and shy at first but once they get going good fun, we are off to visit friends in New York in Nov 2014 as they stayed with us 2 weeks in July.

I have a friend at work who has lived and worked in the States... He often jokes that......

Americans hate two things....

Racism and black people

For the record, my mate isn't white and has been on the receiving end of the above. Hardly a Mori Poll I know, but...

I did a Route 66 trip last year and in a bar or two in Arizona I was shocked at the racist attitude of some people.... Oh, and also the fact that I saw people with guns in holsters openly on show like Clit Westward or summat

However, on the whole, I like the Septics

I like their 'can do' attitude...

OK, in answer to the OP. No that's a not something I've found of Americans. I try not to make sweeping generalisations of nationalities. I have found people of all nationality who I have found irritating and loud. Their country of origin does not make them so....

The land of grey peas and bacon

Some are loud some are not...the same as the majority of people on this earth I suppose...I lived with an American actually my ex husband who was no means loud...did not wear loud clothes actually dressed very nice...i have 2 very close American friends and they are no means loud...the US is full of different people like England...some states are still very backwards in their thinking...I could quite happily work on a ranch in Montana....that would be bliss

Good point

However, when I realised that they have two minimum wages ** and that you, the punter, are paying the labour charge directly, we were a lot more chilled about it.

** Lower minimum wage for service workers made up to the other minimum wage if not achieved via tips... Then probably sacked....
