He had an accident while skiing.....smashed his head onto a rock. Had to be air lifted to hospital. Was wearing a crash helmet which took most of the impact. Concussed....should make a speedy recovery. Pardon the pun!

The inference in some of the reports I read is that he ignored mountain guide advice and went into a known dangerous area. Conditions have been bad over the holidays but it is a dangerous sport.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

There is talk that the coma may have been medically induced as standard practice in such cases as it allows the brain to recover faster.

I too never liked the guy but I do hope he recovers.

Adrenaline junkie that took one risk too many perhaps. If he survives this he'll no doubt try something else to give him a rush following F1, bikes, skydiving, off piste skiing...

Will save my sympathy for those trying to avoid the Grim Reaper.

100% agree and his life takes him to the edge. If he topples off it's no great surprise and I certainly wish him no ill will. I just don't get the weeping and wailing for someone who actively courts dangerous activity.

i think aloof would be a better description ...whilst at a race track him and all drivers are paid millions to focus on the job in hand and get the car home in the most efficient fashion ...they also have reporters (doing their jobs also ..not knocking them) demanding their time and focus ..its a fine line

I would think that they're only giving out details and updates with the permission of his wife/publicist/closest relative. Having said that, patient confidentiality laws aren't the same in every country.
