They can do everything still. Some people hide it if there taking a break or dont want any new contacts for the time being

Because their account isn't deleted nor deactivated. They've simply chosen to hide their profile. Maybe they're not meeting for a while, or have got a dose of the clap and are under medication or his knob has fallen off. Doesn't mean they can't still chat though hehehe

Some also hide them at certain times of night when all the pubs shut and the mad messages start arriving

You can ,if you go into your privacy settings you can hide your profile

If you go to your 'read messages' section, can you not type their name into the box at the top and message them that way?

You still can see the list down the side and are able to send a message even if a profile is hidden

Thing is though,they may not reply if they're hiding for whatever reason at the moment,you can only try though
