Massive change, love nursing but its more about paperwork now than TLC... I got bollocked the other day, I made a paperwork error, crossed it out, initialled it, and got rollocked because I'd crossed it out with TWO lines

It's a shame and I love it but.. it's not what it used to be.....

I applied to be an apprentice hairdresser just not sure if I'm too old to cut it no pun.. With the hip youngsters... Plus £100 per week.....

My theory is it takes a couple of years or so to learn, a few more to master, and then a couple to show off. And then it's time for a change.

yeah that's a tricky one but I think if you can find a salon with a good mix of staff age wise then you should be okay.

No never too old I didn't actually decide what I wanted to do when I grew up till my late thirties but many I was at uni with where older than me.

Go for it life's too short and the working weeks too long to be in a job you don't enjoy

Seriously? Well good for you. Guess its just fear of the unknown, I've been nursing for a long time, although did take a break, and trained as a trampoline and gymnastics coach, absolutely loved that! But I wouldn't have the stamina now I'm afraid

It's never too late to do it. Hair dresser/stylist is a career you can get into regardless of age. Fashion trends change all the time but as long as you move with the trend and can offer a service that's up to date and competitive there's no reason why you wouldn't be successful

The only thing i will say is don't kid yourself about the effort & time it's going to take to establish yourself and be prepared for it

Also make sure you take a nurses uniform with you before you leave, preferably one that's a size too small so you're bursting at the seems

Haha thankyou, yes I know it's going to be hard if I get in! And yes as regards to moving with the times the blue rinse, hasn't reared its ugly head yet! my hair is at the min red.. Prob be purple next week! .,. And the uniform lol how naughty! Scrubs I'm afraid don't have oh matron affect of yesteryear
