It's only been 20 minutes since I put it up and I want to smash it to pieces already!

What presents are you NOT hoping for this year for either you, the other half or the kids?

Belfast

A relative has provided "stompeez" in our house. Slippers that bark whenever they're moved. Seriously unimpressed!

I've bought each of them a Furby. My brother in law is not happy. Perhaps I should get the Stompeeez to go with their new jim-jams?

I have bought them some really noisy presents over the years but as they are all musical we've been through a fair amount of noise exposure.

When someone buys the toy bagpipes that we sell at work and says they are for someone else's child as as gift I always helpfully suggest that next year they could get them a drum kit!

I just can't bear to buy him teddy bears and other things for his age. I'm getting him things that will last and be useful for his life, such as boxing gloves and so on

Please don't! One child at a time is bad enough, don't make him start early today

I think you are missing a trick. Imagine Obi's head after last night. Fox Cub banging away on a drum is exactly what Obi needs.

I got my youngest a drum kit too. She showed an interest and I really believe in supporting kids in their aspirations. As someone who has derived a huge amount of enjoyment from playing a musical instrument I felt it my duty to give her as much help and encouragement as possible.

I'm not sure my ex who she lives with sees it quite the same way but hey that's rock & roll!!!

that's the thing, it wouldn't be 'fox cub' on them - it would be him!!

He's a big kid enough of the time let alone giving him more ammo

Many years ago my brother and I were bought a cowboy and Indians set (yes I know its un PC but it was 18+ years ago!) and we ran around the house fighting each other, me with a tomahawk, him a gun. It ended badly when we teamed up on our godfather, the person who had bought us the presents!

This year I've bought someone's son some guitar plectrums of his own so he doesn't keep borrowing his dad's. Although he's a great guitarist so its not a massive problem!
