Christmas Eve for me is more exciting than Christmas Day itself. This is the day my brother and I make our way back to our parents home, where we once again become children. We moan at nothing being on the tv and reminisce of years gone by. Tradition has it that we lay on a buffet... mum sneaks the dog a cocktail sausage or two. For today is the day we are together again and the celebrations commence.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

When i was younger and my family were still happy and a unit we used to go for a walk in the afternoon. Evening mum ndad prepared snacky nibbles and salad stuff as me and my brother wrapped our gifts to them up.

Then we were given a gift of new pjs to wear after bathtime.

Not anymore but growing up me and little sis used to always get a present on Xmas eve night. Always got a selection box for breakfast on Xmas morning to.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Growing up our tradition was to get dressed up for midnight mass. Then we would get home and some garlic pork and/or pepperpot with some fresh bread before going to bed.

I was listening to something on the radio the other day and someone said that you only have to do the same thing three years running for it to be a tradition.

I take a picture each year of my daughter in a xmas dress looking into the lit up tree. Ive done it since she was 1 so guess thats our lil traditional thing

I used to go to Midnight mass at the chapel at windsor castle loved it back then. The choir was so magical.

Cannot be bothered anymore. things change when the kids go and no babies follow. Nothing to look forward to any more. Just another day to get through really

The day is what you make it. It doesn't have to be what it used to be. Make some new traditions.

Used to have when I was smaller and lived at home. And in a honesty if I go home for a Christmas again at some point, those traditions would instantly reignite.

Now though work tends to get in the way and it's similar to any other day. Although this will be the first time in a few years I haven't made midnight mass.

Sort of a tradition now for my daughter to stay over. She used to stay with her grandma but since mum died she's come to mine. We veg out and watch crappy films.

Oh Cinnamon, that sounds so sorryful. If you are around the Windsor area there is so much happening in the town. Why not go to church just for the sing song, always makes me feel better ...

Christmas Eve was when the kids ascended on me. I was in my element cooking and fussing over my babies. This year I have a boyfriend and they've deserted me.

My daughter and her husband bought their first marital home and moved in last week so enjoying their first Christmas in their home. My other daughter and her partner are house sitting for his aunt while she goes home to St Lucia and my youngest and her partner will be away on a religious retreat. They don't have to humour the old dear now, they can go off living their own lives whilst I amuse myself.

It was good while it lasted and we'll all have a merry Christmas and they know where I am.

I usually have one last look in town, then the evening spent last minute wrapping and probably get a takeaway. Our Xmas day lunch is on boxing day as my daughter has to work
