I won and paid for an item on the 4th December. The estimates delivery date was the 9th to the 10th. (Postage waaaay overpriced btw but I wanted this item for my sons pirate theme bedroom)

There was another item the lady was selling and I asked about combining postage to which she said no, so I didn't bid on the second item as I was not paying £13 postage on 2 items that could of quite easily been put together) she was quite abrupt in her reply!

It's now the 16th and still no sign of the item. I checked eBay and she didn't mark it shipped till the 12th! 8 days after I paid for it.

How long is reasonable to wait till I complain? I have messaged her but no reply as yet x

I think all you can do is mention in her feedback that she took a long time to post it with no communication.

I mean to get my money back for an item that has disappeared. Usually things that get posted 2nd class arrive within a few days. I have recieved items from elsewhere that were purchased before this one.

Ah right. This is what I mean I didn't want to jump the gun if it's just Xmas chaos with the postage. Although if it took her 8 days to get to the post office no wonder it's not here yet!

Oh if it doesn't arrive at all you can put in a claim. But with 2nd class untracked mail I think it's just a case of making a claim for a lost item with Royal Mail themselves (or the sender might have to do it). If the sender has proof of postage, which any sensible person would get, then you can't pursue the seller for it because they can prove they held up their end of the deal.

If they don't have proof of postage you can probably open a dispute on ebay saying they've not posted it and they can't prove they have done.

I will wait for a confirmation from her then to see when she actually sent it, if it was nearly 2 weeks ago I'll start a case. If she actually didn't send it till the 12th I'll hang on a bit longer x

I think the sender has to do it. I've looked at her feedback (stupidly after I bought the item) and it looks like her track record for sending stuff isn't great. Normally I check before! Silly me. Hopefully she's just been slack and it will turn up this week x

That's what I thought, but she didn't mark it as sent till the 12th which when you account for the weekend isn't that long. She won't be getting good feedback from me if that's the case though.

fuck them.

open a case with ebay as soon as you can.

she sounds like a cunt anyway lol

there is no reason to wait 8 days before shipping.

i have had things come from china and america quicker than your package

also, you should report her to ebay for overpriced postage too, as its a favourite way of getting more for your item without paying higher ebay fees, and they take a very dim view of it.

with my old car i needed a heater motor, and there was one in london for £15, with £75 postage

this has just made me laugh. She was a snarky cow when I asked about combining postage. Didn't realise that's why people do that with postage!! I don't normally pay high postage but loved this item! Grrrr x

Do you know how she was sending it? e.g. Special Delivery?

Regardless of that, ask her for a tracking number for the parcel (make up some story that you need to contact the courier because you might not be in etc)

Open a case with ebay anyway - check the listing and see what it says about p&p, just tell ebay it hadnt arrived by the date stated on the listing.... this is enough for them to intervene.

I have. It says 2nd class and that she will usually post within 2 days of receiving payment. There won't be any tracking number for 2nd class parcel.

The expected date was 9-10th.

Either she sent it and it's gone walkabout.

Or she sent it over a week late and therefore is late arriving

Or she hasn't sent it at all!

Gonna wait till tomorrow to give her chance to reply then open a case z

So she says! This was £5.50 second class for a light shade. I know it won't weigh much should be £2.60 postage maybe add a bit on for packaging elc but £5.60 is bad! I will check on the stamp how much it cost to post and the date it was sent!

On the p&p part of the ebay listing it usually gives a period of dispatch.

If she has said 3 days (usual) & taken 8 then a complaint can be made TO ebay.

I've found that if something is not paid for or doesn't arrive that ebay do not punish the offender in any way, so a waste of time!

postage is a bugbear of mine.

the problem is, you cant go on just the cost of the stamp.

you have to take into account the materials and possibly the distance they may have to travel to get to a post office.

there are some in rural areas that are a decent distance away from one.

£5.60 isnt really THAT bad for postage.

That's why I'm waiting till it arrived to comment on the postage. Although if you pay £5.60 postage for an item and it says it will get sent within 2 days it should be. If it can't be done then change it. I put 4 days on anything I sell so I've got a bit of time to play with just incase. She does have some bad feedback for slow delivery etc tho, I just didn't check before I bought it, not often I get things from people, usually budinessss x

Yeah time wise I'll wait a bit. As for the cost I posted a heavy kids tablet last week 1st class recorded in a biggish box and it cost £6 odd but it's ok it'll have the postage cost on the label when (if) it arrives so I can see then x

I've always tried to be fair with postage on eBay. Years ago the ex wife and I sold bundles of my daughters outgrown clothes and loads of people asked for combined postage, we never had an issue combining the cost of postage if someone bought a bundle And we were never shy about asking for combined postage if we brought multiple items from the same seller.

Like in some of the earlier replies, some people are just after making a bit more money, I bet she would be the first to ask for combined postage if she was buying and she'd probably expect 1st class postage and would be hassling you if it hadn't turned up in a day or two.

Get straight into eBay, it will make yourself feel better

If you paid with paypal open a case there. You'll get a lot faster resolution than claiming through ebay. If she can't prove (with a signature that is checkable online) that you have received it then you will get a refund for the full amount. If it then arrives you can give her the choice of returning it (obviously at the price she charged for postage) or you can then pay her for the goods plus a reasonable amount for postage.

Unscrupulous people might even just keep the goods and say nothing.

That is exactly what detailed seller ratings are for. I am an eBay junkie. They definitely go out of their way to protect the buyer. Make sure you warn others in her feedback, although normally a delay in shipping would warrant more of a neutral feedback with a warning to others than a negative, especially if she did really send it and it is intact.

Personally, I have never given bad or negative feedback, but have chosen to give no feedback. I think sometimes its a tough one to call, as there may be reasonable circumstances. Someone once used my pictures to sell their item. I contacted them and asked if I would receive any commission (I was joking).

The guy came out with a string of excuses. None of which held water, and I felt more annoyed that he'd tried to justify using my pictures !

I had sold something last winter and then my son and I both got norovirus and didn't leave the house for 6 days. I just messaged the buyer to explain and they were very understanding!

I think when someone wins an item and pays promptly it should be posted ASAP unless there's a good reason (which is totally understandable just send a message! I bought a new and wrapped dvd last week (Kevin Bridges - The story continues) and when it came it wasn't wrapped. It looks like I've had it on my shelf for a year and then just decided to get shot of it as a cheap present. They've had negative feedback, as it was not as described. To their credit they did offer to refund some money or swap it, but it's really a bit late for that. I've wrapped it and don't fancy the hassle of swapping so late.

Open a case through Ebay if you havent received the item. They will give you a full refund.

If you are unhappy with the postage charge then I would question the seller about it.

You can always comment on it on the feedback and use the lowest star rating. If you get so many of these in a short space of time then you lose out on perks like free listing etc. Most sellers will try and work out any issues with their buyers.

You'll get a refund via eBay and if needs be (as long as she has proof of postage) she'll get her money back from Royal Mail. The claims process is simple and online - they just need the original proof of postage and a print out of the eBay transaction and a cheque is usually in the post within a week or do!

Funnily enough they never lose the cheques - just the sodding item you sent! Lol

Go to customer services if its still not arrived. She's meant to send items within three working days a maximum of 7 days.

The postage could be high as ebay charge a seller a % of the cost you put up which the seller has to budget for. If she's used ebays guidelines on postage it factors in the packaging as well.

There's no need to be rude to anyone and it would be cheaper for her to combine the postage unless the items would damage each other??
