do you make gifts for anyone, are they well received?

I've just finished a and knitted teddy bear for someone and although it technically not a gift as they paid for the wool i'm still excited to give it to them. I hope they like it.

Would you be happier to receive a hand made gift rather than generic shop bought stuff?

This year we are making a hamper for the grandparents of things that we (me and the kids) have made....hope they like it!!!

I love hand made gifts. My daughter's friend posted a hand made card through the door just now, it's got a small origami figure on it and she had cut envelopes in half to fit and stuck a small sequin to the envelope. The time, care and thought that went into that say so much about a person.

I often give handmade gifts or drawings, I think it's personal and it's nice to give something, that you've made with that person in mind

I seldom make home made edible gifts for individuals, however, I normally treat my team and selected colleagues to chocolate mousse (tomorrow), cheesecake (Wed), and Tiramisu (Fri).

If I am not working on Sunday, then I shall make chocolate liqueur truffles for Monday.

I love anything where someone has gone to some effort. My daughter is making make me a sock monkey this year, using the usual socks most men get. I would of course love it oven more if someone could knit me a playstation 4

ive taken shed loads of photo's, turned them into canvas, photo albums and framed specific pics.

also put pictures into baubles as gifts.. kinda home made gifts but very personal

Cards are homemade. Presents are mostly homemade, mostly home grown too. Hampers get bigger every year.

Most appreciate them. Those that don't we don't bother with because it takes bloody ages to do it every year!

The way I see it, a card for example, no matter how long you spend in the shop, carefully selecting the one you feel best summarises your feelings for a given person, thousands of people are still going to receive that same card at some point. However, if you MAKE a card for someone, especially a good one - not much cop just folding a piece of paper in half and writing 'I love you' inside (though that does sound strangely romantic now I've written it lol), then its the only card of its kind in the world, made specifically for them, and doesn't that tell them so much more?

Some of my favourite presents over the years have been handmade. A cd from amazon doesn't show as much thought really does it. I still appreciate it though, but I do like homemade gifts.

My sister is currently making us a patchwork quilt for when the baby arrives. We have received many presents for our baby and we are thankful for all of them but the fact she is making this quilt and I know how long it has taken makes it so special. Actually makes me a lil teary thinking about the effort she has made making something so unique for our lil one.

I think a CD from Amazon that a person really wants shows the same intent and thought. It isn't always possible to find time to make gifts.

I do know what you mean. But as was said above about the quilt for the baby you sort of appreciate a present more if a bit of effort went into it. I remember getting a Tina Tikaram album when I was younger and I played it to death , absolutely loved it. But getting some homemade biscuits of my children is ten times better.
