Anyone else had the phoney Metropolitan Police pop-up fining you £100 for various copyright, etc, etc, etc, breaches and contraventions.

Apparently it opens up a stinker of a virus and can crop up on lots of down loads or just by browsing!

XXXX

yes had it twice. it is a bit of a stinker but easy to solve.

just start your pc up in safe mode, and re set pc to before you were attacked, it takes virus off, and on you go.

What did you use to remove it ?? Because it can lie dormant in your registry and let you think you have removed it ?

Had to deal with this... one of the kids pc's got infected -cracked minecraft download- popped up with a "You've been viewing C**ld P**n - pay £250 to ukash or a report will be sent..."

Scared the crap out of the kid. Hasn't downloaded a thing since.

Had to edit registry to get rid of it.

THIS DOES NOT WORK ! It does not remove the virus, doing a system restore does not clean your system.

You must use a decent anti malware or anti spyware to remove it completely.

it cleared my pc, so that it wasn't locked, and then I could use virus protection, no problems since.

Use anvisoft defender, it scans the root registry and mawarebytes doesn't! I thought malwarebytes had gotten rid of it, but it was still sitting in my registry and started attaching itself in other places causing me problems. But anvisoft didd actually get rid of it! Good luck!

go into safemode whilst by pressing f8 as soon as your pc/laptop is switched on, then do a system restore you can find guides on how to do system restore its easy. if that doesnt work you will have to reset the computer back to its factory settings using the built in recovery partition or recovery disk you may have recieved.

Don't do this!!!! As advised boot safe mode get a copy of malware bytes on a USB by downloading it from another PC run that in safe mode. And you don't have to lose a thing.
