I wish it was bigger, what you write doesn't always fit in. The status update box is bigger, can't they both be the same size? Anyone agree or is it just me?

Do you mean the above the line profile headline? I think it is big enough. It is supposed to be an eye catching headline not the whole story.

The status allows you to add to it in a breaking news sort of way.

Yours could read "A shy winker" followed by whatever you want to say about messages but cut down.

I use Notepad to edit my profile text, then cut and paste into the text box. Some formatting is usually required before I am satisfied with it.

If you mean the box where you enter your main profile text, on most computers there is a little gadget, where you should be able to drag the box out and make it bigger. But I do note it doesn't work with all systems

If you mean the text box for writing posts for the forums, you can click and drag on the lines on the bottom right hand corner to expand the box.

Not sure if this is the box you mean though
