I don't keep thousand of pounds in our house and I'm sad to say that if somebody came round for a meet and stole £50 that I wouldn't report them.

I would perhaps look at revenge if it was a bloke but certainly would confront them.

Getting the police involved could potentially open up a can of worms. What if the person was wanted by police for more serious offences and we are summonsed as witnesses! We'd rather lose £50 then be on a daily mail headline!

I'd certainly report them on this site and you can vet people before you call them round but you cannot always be a good judge of character!

Having recently had a room I was staying broken into and £400 stolen the police weren't very helpful i have to agree

If its under £100 put it down to experience...

Letting strangers in your home is your own error.of judgement.

Chances are the person you met will close their account... Re open with an email again tomorrow. If you gave their phone num, you stand a better chance if tracking their location.

i had a meet steal over 300 pound from me. we had met several times before, so i felt comfortable having him in my house after a night out on the town. he must have seen the money in my handbag, cos when i was in the shower he helped himself. i noticed as soon as he left and chased after him to confront him.. took his wallet out of his hand and he went crazy stripped naked on the streeet... i didnt find the money.. but i know without a doubt he took it as it was in there when i paid the cab on arrival at the house. hes still on here, i never reported to admin or to police. its only money. and not a lot either.

Touch wood, i've had a few people back at mine as well as a couple of parties and all has been well.

Its a small world and you tend to see same profiles come up time and again - without being foolish you have to be trusting to some extent after all you are all getting into each others personal space. The wrong ones are potentially the wild cards - but we were all wild cards to start with - perhaps I'm a good judge of caracter or I'm careful about leaving valuables lying around!

Depends how much money was stolen, to me £10 is a lot and money I need for food, so I can control my diabeties,

to some £100 is pocket money, so it wouldn't be important enough to report.

I think the answer is to decide how important the money was, and act accordingly, if you invite strangers into your home, you risk, death, assault, HIV aids, and theft, even your home being cased for the big hit, later on when your out!

Decided against the police as cannot give any info that would be helpful. The cop may not understand 2 males together.

Hope admin will close him down so as not to be able to do it to anyone else.

Giving out his name may hurt some female who may not know he was bi.

So you are not leaving him a verification then?

Seriously, ensure you inform him that you know what he did and shame him if you ate not taking further action. He may not care but it may have been one mad and opportunistic moment and you may halt him in his tracks.

i'm not one that worries so much on monetry things or value. hence why i didnt report to the police. in hindsight... 300 pound really isnt alot when you think of how much one earns in a week. if he needed it for something important then he could have asked, but am sure it would have been spent on drugs so that irritates me most. never mind, am glad the original poster reported to admin.

How would I know that a thief is a serial killer and rapist too unless they told me ?

When have I said that I wouldn't report somebody for serious matters and let them get away with it? Your post assumes I wouldn't report a murder for example incase I have to give evidence in court. This is not the point I made.

i didnt want to say anything if the money was still in there, for all i know it could hve fallen off the chair and he picked it up and put it on the table?.. as soon as i closed the front door i opened my purse to find the money gone, and i was straight back out the front door again to track him down.

"i had a meet steal over 300 pound from me. we had met several times before, so i felt comfortable having him in my house after a night out on the town. he must have seen the money in my handbag, cos when i was in the shower he helped himself. i noticed as soon as he left and chased after him to confront him.. took his wallet out of his hand and he went crazy stripped naked on the streeet... i didnt find the money.. but i know without a doubt he took it as it was in there when i paid the cab on arrival at the house. hes still on here, i never reported to admin or to police. its only money. and not a lot either.

Was wondering that too...he stripped naked but the money wasn't found? How are you so sure he took it then? Not saying your wrong but it's a hell of an accusation to throw out there then say you didn't find it even after taking his wallet and him stripping naked. Do you have CCTV and saw him while you were in the shower?

when i walked into the room he jumped back on the the bed.. my handbag was wide open and not where i had left it.. would never accuse if i wasnt certain. took his wallet off him and looked in the note section.. didnt search every pocket in his trousers or jacket or wallet. could have been under his cap for all i know.

I can see exactly where the OP is coming from. This is not a question about Theft and points to prove or indeed how one goes about the mechanics of reporting a theft.

Money has been stolen from a person presumably from Fab coming into the home. Unless it was a lot of money ( maybe over £100 ) which I never have in the house anyway - I wouldnt report it. It may be evidentially harder to prove than you think to track the person down ( it always seems easy to a lay person ) BUT the issue is the embarrassment of it all. The person would almost certainly deny it - thus would have to go to court. She stole my money - no I didnt etc Would I go to court and explain how I invited someone from a sex site into my home ? No

My phone was once hacked at a gang bang by a boy I knew and some private stuff sent out. Now I lock everything away and have nothing of value on show.

It depends how much or what was stolen.

The police will not be interested in small amounts, and how are you going to prove that they took it, evidenve standard.

Crime is reported to the police, unless you want the person done over, then the local hard man.

Any means of communication, tends to work.

OP this is awful and I do feel for you. Theft is theft at the end of the day and the amount should be irrelevant. If this man has stolen from you, chances are he will do it to someone else. If you can cope with it, I'd report to the Police. You might prevent someone else being a victim. As far as you being bi and on here is concerned I can assure you they hear all sorts, so don't feel embarrassed.

Sad you feel it might be difficult to explain but then we see even on this site that bisexuality is not accepted by all.....

Maybe you should re-word your original post. It clearly said that you would not report a (Fab) theft of £50 incase the suspect was wanted for something more serious and ended up in court or in the papers....
