Something personal.

I have a few tattoos that were picked off a flash card and whilst I don't hate them I do prefer my lady as I chose her and added buts for me

There are a lot of people who regret one tattoo or another. I would find a good tattooist first and see what he recommends and is capable of doing and doing well.

go for something small and simple for your first one. Try and design your own or get help from the tattooist and make sure you get some recommendations. Some tattooists are definitely better than others.

'40 today' then you can wear it out on your party night...there won't be a day goes by you don't regret it...trust me I'm a doctor...um...actually that's not entirely true

Philly PA area

I've always wanted one, still don't have one. Never saw or thought of something I'm THAT committed to.

I went zip lining for the first time to celebrate my 40th. Great way to feel like 20 again.

I was always "I don't care what others do personally I'm never gonna have a tattoo" and then when my mum died last year the first thing I did was get a tattoo in her memory! LOL

I love the one I have but I don't intend on having any more!

I agree with what others are saying; make it personal to you and don't rush into it!

Do your research of the tattooists around your area. Look at their fb pages, read reviews.

Once you've chosen one, go and speak to them about the tattoo. They may help you come up with ideas.

Don't rush into anything. Make sure you're 100% about the design and placement.

My first one was a piece of music that I love. Had it tattoed as a band on my arm.

Chose you art carefully.

Chose your artist carefully.

Have something to eat prior to your tattoo.

Take some sweets and an energy drink in with you on case you feel faint.

Enjoy your art

Xxx

Like others have said think carefully & have something personal to you. Also where you have it will depend how painful it is, the tattooist will tell you honestly , but every person is different too. Like someone else said previously I was never having one , then I lost my Mum & one of my close friends designed one In her memory for me. I also have a line of song lyrics that are personal to me.

Maybe see where your friends had theirs done & go talk to the tattooist. Mine was a lovely man & we put the world to rights.

And enjoy the results !
