Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Just read a lovely story about French bureaucrats who sent a census letter to Napoleon on the Isle of Corsica. A Corsican resident returned the letter telling them to forward it to Saint Peter. Absolutely classic!

Anyone else had any strange or funny bureaucratic bungles?

The organization of any bureaucracy is very much like a septic tank. The really big chunks always rise to the top

LOL good description. But I loved this particular story - especially the bit where the letter was returned and they were told to forward it to Saint Peter. Corsicans must have a dry sense of humour.
