Upgrade time

So it's upgrade time for my phone. I've been with my network for more than 8 years and off I went last week looking at phones.

I found what I wanted but they were out of stock. Then the weekend happened and I got a bit distracted.

I've just rung my network and they've discontinued the two phones I liked and won't give me the replacements at the same price and all they can offer is the next one down!

Apparently they don't care if I leave and won't give me any quarter for being a long-standing customer!

So which networks have got good reliable coverage and who should I avoid?

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I have to do this very soon too, so I can't advise but will watch with interest.

I've been with Orange, (or EE now), for a very long time and they've mostly been pretty good. We had a disagreement over 'phone insurance recently but that was ultimately resolved by me telling them to stuff it.

I can't comment on coverage up there though.

worst coverage i have found (but i have been with o2 for 4 years, voda for the 3 years before that, 3 for the previous year, then it was one2one before that lol) was 3, may have changed since i was with them, but it was truly awful.

most complete coverage was voda, but the customer services left a little to be desired.

theres a reason why i have been with o2 for so long

I've been with 3 now for 8 months and cant really complain. I do think their all you can eat package is well worth the money

I've been with 3 for over 8 years and the coverage has been great and the unlimited internet access is great.

And unlike some networks they haven't had any blackouts.

Not sure about this but i think most smart phones, once they have been activated are locked on to a network and you have to unlock them to others but this is the same for all networks

I've been with Orange (EE) for about 6 years and never had an issue with signal, internet speed or anything. I'd recommend.

I've been with O2 for five years or so, but will be moving to EE presently. No complaints about O2, just a better deal.

Not a big fan of 3, due to poor customer service, though.

I've been with them all apart from 3 and I've found O2 to be the best, service and especially coverage where I live.

I found the worst for me was 3. Hubby's aunt was rushed to hospital went to phone him and was told I couldn't as he was not a 3 customer. Good job I had my pussy phone on me at the time.

Best Vodafone even used it in Italy £3 per day.

You could ask to speak to the retentions department, let them know that (other phone network) has offered you a free phone (the one you want) and xx mins/texts/data and can they match it.

Did this for a friend a month ago and she got a 100% discount (ie free) on a S4 and kept her price plan...she's on EE and only been with them 4 years.
