Ebony magazine is still going and was started in America in the forties, when the term black wasn't used. It was trying to emulate Life magazine but aimed at African American's. A strong one word name.

Agreed, I've gotten ebony princess and Nubian queen, takes some getting used to, but I refer to myself as milk chocolate lol so as not to confuse anyone of my complexion
