lifes to short

You know today should have been my best friends 38th birthday.. we grew up together, fought like anything but was about the only constant in my messed up young life... Yet just short of two years ago he was diagnosed with a rare cancer and he perished before our eyes and 4 months after diagnosing it.. he died...

For two years nearly I've been strong for his widow, his kids both shared and from his 2nd wife.. his family and yet today on what should have been his 38th birthday I suddenly feel such a loss...

We were to trouble when we were together and yet today I remaised I missed just having him there to laugh at whatever mess I had got myself into now...

But his last words to me were to not waste my life, to live each day as if it were my last and to remember I'm precious... Today I just feel sad.. and I wanted to share this and say to everyone.. life really is to short and you never know whats coming so don't waste it on petty squabbles...

This time of year always makes me reflect on passed times with my sister who i miss every day and who fought so hard to live,but lost the battle.

Wasting time now would be a slur on her memory and so i wanna live live to the full and once im able ....mobility wise....

Im gonna grab life by the balls bigtime .

I to have just lost my best friend just a couple of weeks ago and she was my sister in law at just the age of 46 she left behind 2 lovely children xxx

It dose make you realise that we are not here for ever and this is not a practice run this is the real thing and only get one run at it so make the most of it xxx

i have missed my sister and brother this year more than ever , and suppose that why

i find it hard now as before i was married

had parents, 2 sisters and a brother , now only got 1 sister ,i think xmas makes us think of loved ones we have lost more x

Life is definitely too short Cali and grief affects us all differently. I lost my husband 3 years ago and you think you are coping then something that seems silly will set you off. I was signing something on his birthday and wrote his date of birth instead of the date and just crumbled.

It does get easier to cope tho, keep your happy memories close to help you xx

It does suddenly seem to hit and small sstuff just seems so much bigger..

I read your post with great sadness... Days like these are so difficult. I've been low today myself...missing my little boy whom i lost many years ago and with the festive season on the horizon he is especially in my thoughts...the longing never goes . I posted this on a thread in Scotland today entitled "Regrets" but feel it applies equally here. Hope, hold on pain ends......x

Ive thought long and hard about this thread..and for that i thank you. Sometimes we all take the people closest to us for granted. In my case, two of the most precious people in my life were taken away from me far too soon. What i learned from it all is....no matter what the circumstances are it is never too late to put things right while we are on this earth. Finding the courage to do it can be hard...we are all fallible and make mistakes in life and the best we can often be is only good enough. So i wholeheartedly agree...hold those dear to you even closer....for to be without them is an endless pain .....but without trying to sound like an old hippie (even though i am one) the greatest gift is ....LOVE

Completely agree with you, small things can hit one memory which brings about more and then before you know it tears are in your eyes . My grief counsellor told me this was normal and made me realise that it would never go away and you should take the time as otherwise you may not be able to move on and embrace life the way it should be.

Good for you for being able to share this. I've got some things I'd like to be able to share sometimes but they're just too personal to write about here.

The mortal coil is a very thin thread indeed my recent illness and being utterly helpless because of it re enforced that to me. However instead of the whole live each day as if it's your last I prefer the idea of live each day to enjoy what you do and try to leave the earth a better place for having been there.

I have no family ... just my daughter but what I do is think back to a time when I had nothing - and I mean nothing and that gives me the kick I need.

Life is too short - I say it all the time and we should cherish what we have and then welcome the new ... we are on a predetermined path - how we walk it is up to us

im sure we all understand your feelings,as i do for my mother, father,and my brother,so sad at the birthday times.and times such as christmas,when i remember family gatherings,yes we all have a very short lifespan,so enjoy the time we do have,as we are a very long time gone.

Big hugs hunny, we all unfortunately share the loss of loved ones in our lives, some often more difficult than others. As our own Community we help and support each other in words and sympathy as friends and strangers.

My heart felt sympathy to all who have lost someone dear to them, especially at this time of year
