Seriously, I can't think of another country where I'm sure binge drinking occurs. I'm not sure about the US and Australia.

It doesn't seem common in other parts of Europe, certainly.

Yes it is and alcohol is at the root of lots of problems here in England can't speak for the rest of Britain. Not spent any time there to comment.

It's a huge problem in eastern Europe, especially in places like Russian where beer is often seen almost like a soft drink.

Fair point, I was thinking of Western Europe. I know bugger all about Eastern Europe. I've never even been to an Eastern European country.

I love travelling. I've a long list of countries and places I still want to visit. Several Eastern European countries are on the list.

You can get 5 nights at a 4* hotel in Krakow for a couple of hundred quid including flights if you have a search. Poland is an amazing country, although I am a little biased...

Koreans are famous for drinking till they puke then carrying on.

Spring break in USA is just one long drink binge.

Aussies will consume a fair bit of alcohol over a weekend.

It's not just us that abuse alcohol.

way for the British to party/unwind/forget their troubles/celebrate..no wonder so many binge on it

look at some of the scandenavian countrys for drink problems hence high prices and restrictions on point of sale and availability

but as stated by someone elsewhere its a pleasure for the poor/lower classes so it must be demonised and banned but our betters

What I have witnessed in my travels are this

Yes people drink and in vast quantities the world over. Many especially in Western Europe and Scandinavia drink every night with their food. A custom to have a beer or a bottle of wine with dinner every night accounts for their heavy drinking

Brits in turn save it up for the weekend and then drink a weeks supply in one go.

Where others drink in comfort of a social setting and celebratory mood

Brits drink until they throw up and collapse comatose on the ground

British drinkers because of their in take in one session also become arrogant and aggressive when d*unk and still think Britannia rules the world and anyone says other gets the shit kicked out of them for saying so
