Regrets...

I posted this on the Scottish forum a couple of mins ago.....

But I'd also like to post it on here.

Big subject for a Saturday night.

But I (Dexter) had a real heart to heart with my two daughters earlier today.

Their mother and I are no longer together.

Both my daughters are happily married with kids.

And we talked about things we'd do different given the gift of hindsight.

For me right here...right now. In my middle 50's.

I just wish I'd spent more time with them when we were all younger. And taken more pictures. And kept their drawings.

And I wish I could remember more of when they were young.

But like a lot of parents back then we were caught up in careers and work and stuff. Stupid stuff.

So for any of you out there with young kids.......do whatever you have to...but just spend more time with them.....talk to them.

Involve them in your life.

They treasure and remember every minute of the time you give them. And remember the times you don't.

And also give more time to your own parents......one day they won't be there.

We are all here for so short a time...

Brighton - even Hove!

Time is valuable. It's something that people don't often appreciate until they don't have it any more. Look to the future.

i take SOOOOOO many photo's of my little girl and capture everything we get up too

Sometimes i forget to just relax, enjoy the activity and to stop living life through a camera and just enjoy and recall the memories

"i take SOOOOOO many photo's of my little girl and capture everything we get up too

Sometimes i forget to just relax, enjoy the activity and to stop living life through a camera and just enjoy and recall the memories "

What is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

My dad often quotes this poem to us and it is very thought provoking

The land of grey peas and bacon

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

No one has "great at his job" engraved on the tombstone.

Yes, you have to provide for your family but that provision must include time, care, love and remembering to stop the other stuff every once in a while.

The problem with regrets, is there is not much you can do about them.

You can't change the past, but most of us get tied down with, worrying ourselves with these things.

Maybe it's best to try not to make the same mistakes again.

I agree, life passes us by so quickly. Try to enjoy every moment with my kids and hubby.

You are right. You cannot change the past.

But you can influence and change the future....

Life is about choices. Make more good ones than bad and you'll have a good life.
