Talking on the phone before meeting

Do people find it important?

For me its a bit part of setting up a meet. Part of the attraction of a man is his voice, tone, pitch, dynamics etc. If i'm not drawn to the accent etc then i just cant find a man attractive. Perhaps i'm weird?!

I feel that if conversation wont flow via a phone i can't understand how it would be any different face to face. Nothing worse than an awkward silence right?

Its an absolute must. If I can't have a conversation with them then I'm not going to want to spend any time in their company.

Wouldn't dream in a million years of meeting someone without chatting on the phone, how would you know if there was a rapport, can't do that via text

Its important to me,some people are expert cyber communicators but have no real life skills

I want to know that the cyber rapport works just as well over the phone when responses need to be instant instead of being thought about and then typed onto a keyboard

I like to Skype it, that way I get to see if they match their pictures and I get to check out the potential chemistry (to an extent). Kill two birds with one stone.

The instant reactions, pauses, natural laughs. When reading written text you can not truly understand how a person is meaning a sentence and if they are joking or not. Punctuation and smileys can help with these things, but the spoken voice just gives the words a whole new dimension.

I always speak on the phone to women/ women half of couples before I'll meet them, even before a coffee.

First meet with guys is always for a coffee. Need to speak face to face to know what I want to do...

I think some conversations you have to have on the phone. If I'm going to see someone I will talk to them the night before, or the morning of the day that I'm going just to confirm things.

I have been known to settle differences on the phone that can't be done in text or emails as well.

yup ideally Skype works too

though to be fair i never thought my webcam ever did me any justice as the camera angle is shocking and i cant change it

I'm a crap communicator online. People seem to 'warm' to me more in real life. I don't think my sense of humour comes across well online.

It is am absolute must for me to speak first. Sometimes you get to sort out the dreamers from the real. Importantly you get to start that real interaction, so that youre not total strangers when you meet in the flesh. If someones afraid of speaking, or has poor social skills, it can easily mean that theyre not really going to interact well, once together. You can tell a lot from speaking, picking up deceit, levels of confidence, their interest etc. Ive sometimes had people push to skype immediately, but I chat first via the phone. Good, reliable old technology works well for me as a first base.

I never talk on the phone before meeting, I never give my number to anyone one here, I don't text or call, all communication is done through fab, when I close my laptop I don't want people off here contacting me in my everyday life

Not really keen on talking on the phone thats why I always meet for coffee or a drink first. If that goes well then I will arrange a play date....

Thinking about it I only spoke to my first ever meet on the phone the day before we met.

The others I have extensively messaged on here and text. And one I met at the social so we arranged to meet again so there was no need.

Anyone who's met me knows I can chat for England but I'm not good on the phone with people I don't know. X

Ju will always talk to anyone we plan on meeting. She has a better phone manner than me. I will be there though so if anyone wants to chat to me I will.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I have to speak to someone before meeting them. If I don't like a voice and the things they say there is no way I am going to enjoy meeting them. I don't do Skype and I need a mobile number to confirm a meet before leaving. I don't trust those that point blank refuse to speak or let me have a number.

I get very attracted to voices. Beckham is attractive and I like what he says but I don't fancy him at all because his voice leaves me cold.

bristol

have done pre meet chats on the phone and also met guys without phone call ..try mainly to chat first before actually arranging to meet as we both have quite strong accents and some people state that they strugggle to understand what we are saying so it can help in avoiding wasting peoples time
