car tax! :'(

Hiya, I just felt like a bit of a whinge.

They're putting my car tax up to £270 on my Alfa.

It's so unfair. What's carbon got to do with the roads?! I hardly use my car but I have to pay this. I don't even do 10k a year. Surely tax should be in petrol costs or in tyres.

Anyway, I guess I'm going to have to sell her soon. It's getting ridiculous! Haha! Brilliant car but not good on petrol and not good on tax either...

no matter

Think mine was £245. when I retire I will buy a no tax no congestion charge car like a convertable smart car.Until then I will deal with what I have.

guess we all have to pay the price to drive a more expensive car. I dont even cover 6 k a year on the roads.

Which engine is it (JTD, JTDm, JTS or Twin Spark)?

I only run mine though the summer now (156 JTS) my last tax was £156 for 6 months.

car tax hasn't been about roads for a few years now. It doesn't go towards roads either. It is now an emissions tax, so cleaner running engines mean less tax.

I pay £225.00 for my Land Rover Defender 90, and barely do 5000 miles per year on it.

Haha, nice!!! I bet that is a fun car!

I must be getting old now because I just want a more economic car. I can't downgrade from an Alfa though! Haha! I've tried the golf and a few others but they feel so gutless.

Yeah, I see... I think its to drive sales to be honest. There will always be a more efficient car. They just want me to sell my Alfa and buy a new one I think! Then so the same with that in 5 years!

There's things you can do to make it better. An ECU reset will help also the V6 intake mod and regular doses of Redex. I got mine from 31mpg to 36mpg with that and it cost about £15...

Don't do it!

If you are doing less than 10k a year a doozil can work out really expensive.

couldn't agree more, bloody dirty things.

If you want a MiTo then look at the Multi-Air. They're great on fuel, £0 road fund license and there's some great finance deals on them at the minute.

Brighton - even Hove!

Tax discs will be going next year and replaced with automatic registration recognition technology and monthly direct debits.

I've no idea what my tax is as the disc just appears in the post when it's due but that's the joy of a lease car
