"Even though it may seem far away to some people. I was wondering going by previous experiences and memories. Around what time of the year do shops/customers go back to normal with their spending habits? " I think for many the spending goes on in the January sales, for others people tighten their belts in the new year to pay off what they spent over the festive season. Its all really down to how much disposable income you have.

"In the entertainment business don't expect much before January's pay checks are in, building closes down to bare minimum, often till March but retail tends to have it's sales so guess they are busy. holidays seem to sell well in January though so guess anything with a promise of summer is good." Got march in my head now. Times will be tough for much longer than I thought. Hopefully I can get through it.

"Are you asking when will be the best time for job hunting? Beginning of the new financial year in April. Budgets are often running low at this time of year and most companies will delay hiring until the new year's funds are available. " Basically I wanted to know how long the cuts will last roughly before it goes back to normal.

Your question is too vague and open-ended to answer properly. Some businesses take on extra staff for Christmas and go "back to normal" straight afterwards.
