Even though it may seem far away to some people. I was wondering going by previous experiences and memories. Around what time of the year do shops/customers go back to normal with their spending habits?

I think for many the spending goes on in the January sales, for others people tighten their belts in the new year to pay off what they spent over the festive season. Its all really down to how much disposable income you have.

Well if you have spent up at xmas, maxed out your cards and got FA you spend bugger all apart from bread milk and eggs in Jan.

Basically businesses make cut backs until things pick up again and are back to normal. So want to know roughly when that may be.

In the entertainment business don't expect much before January's pay checks are in, building closes down to bare minimum, often till March but retail tends to have it's sales so guess they are busy.

holidays seem to sell well in January though so guess anything with a promise of summer is good.

Most businesses usually disclose how well they're doing at the end of January when the sales have ended and everyone has been paid. Then start advertising Valentines stuff

Got march in my head now. Times will be tough for much longer than I thought. Hopefully I can get through it.

Are you asking when will be the best time for job hunting?

Beginning of the new financial year in April.

Budgets are often running low at this time of year and most companies will delay hiring until the new year's funds are available.

Short term stuff may be available for the sales, unless that's all been forced upon Workfare victims now.

I'm not buying anything just for the sake of it. I know my disposable income (sorry for going all technical now) and behave accordingly. I own no credit card and never exceed my overdraft (which is minimal anyway).

I just don't understand people who give in to peer pressure and get themselves in financial dire straits. Getting yourself into debt just to buy your children presents is crap role-modelling and will bite you in the arse big time.

Depends what business, florists are usually busy if its very cold around Christmas, lots of people die dec and January.

Depends what business, florists are usually busy if its very cold around Christmas, lots of people die dec and January.

It varies depending on the type of retail. Your question is too vague and open-ended to answer properly.

Some businesses take on extra staff for Christmas and go "back to normal" straight afterwards.
