Lounge? Sitting Room? Front Room? Or something else?

...and is it a 'class' thing? Or a regional one?

PS

Mine is a front room

Living room or front room. Although down my way people often talk about it being a parlour.

Parlour is quaint - and kind of cute. I can imagine a grandma referring to it as that when she invites the vicar round for tea.

LONDON (se)

Well mine is at the back so can't call it a front room. I call it the lounge or sitting room. Growing up it qas the front room though as we did have a back room too which was pretty much like a youth club lol

And yet if people did call it a parlour years ago it was deemed that they were trying to 'get above their station' and were, somehow, more common than the rest of us. Never quite worked out the logic of that one.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I have a living room. It happens to be at the front but front room seems to belong to a certain type of house and this isn't it. Lounge always sounds like a larger space with more than one sofa.
