BBC1 now, a documentary about the Glasgow helicopter crash.

Is it just me or is that just sick?! Leave the poor people to grieve FFS! Why on earth would they make a programme about it?

people die and 24 hours later there is a documentary on their life...its like they have teams of people constantly updated obituary programmes just in case someone cops it.

also, on the news channels they run the same story over and over with no new information

They do have teams of people working on updating obituary programmes for the Royals and major political figures but this sort of programming is ridiculous. I am seriously thinking of complaining.

Quite right. Its appalling that this orogramme is on before full facts are known or funerals have taken place.

I cant believe they managed to get people who were there to take part, its bad enough when the press vultures demand interviews from survivors who returned to lay flowers.

However its all the result if instant rolling 24hour news and our some peoples constant demand for news.

Turned it off and went to bed.

usually the point of a documentary or program based on an actual event is to reach a conclusion.

seeings as there has been none reached in real life yet, then the program, imo, is at least 6 months too early.

shame on the channel that showed it

and if its the BBC then im even more disgusted as they hold themselves up to be superior to money focussed commercial stations

While this is true its not really the point.

The BBC, by sensationalising this tragic event has show a massive disrespect to the victims and their families. Personally it reeks of a ratings grab to me and a tasteless one at that.

True, but usually a bit of time has passed before they do it.

I still think it was utterly sick to make a movie about the Boxing Day tsunami.

I think its the timing that's the problem. Had they broadcast it in 6 months and presented concrete facts about the crash it wouldn't have been so bad. As it is the bodies of the dead aren't even cold yet and the cause of the crash is still pretty much unknown.

They can't report what happened yet. The investigation has barely begun. They were, apparently, quoting Twitter posts, so that should give you an idea of the value of the information being presented!

The program offered no answers as to the cause of the crash because it, as yet, is still unknown. It will probably be several months until the cause is known.

Whilst you lot don't like it, there will be a number of viewers that will. There are plenty of other channels not showing it.

It is our hunger for constant news updates that make these sort of programmes seem acceptable. I didn't watch it as it didn't interest me, nor do I think it's fair to put such a program on so soon after.

The only way of stopping these is if enough people boycott them and the raitings are poor.

When you come across a program like this that offends, there is a couple of buttons on your remote that can help.

One of these changes the channel and allows you to watch something different and less offensive to you. The other turns the tv off all together protecting you entirely from any offence.

I was flicking through the channels and came across it. I watched all of 3-5 minutes and switched it off. I was shocked at the content I did see and the insensitivity of the broadcast scheduling.

The crash and loss of life, speculation of what happened and comments are being extensively covered on the news. That is being shown 24 hours on the news channels and at least four times a day on the main channels. That is where it belongs for now and not on special programming for the mawkish.

while this is fine, i will fully do that when it comes to commercial tv stations.

but the BBC is using MY money to make this, and a has been said, the timing of this program is disgusting.

there is a difference to news reports and making a program about it.

must say, i was actually disgusted at the behaviour of reporters on the scene (i was listening to it one 5live whilst driving) and they were accosting relatives of those that had gone there for the evening, as they turned up, to ask what they knew.

being concerned about loved ones and being asked by journos is horrid

Sorry... I meant if it was one of my family members I wouldn't just be turning the tv off, I'd be going mad at the beeb for doing the programme in the first place. I think they are being very disrespectful to those affected.
