Titz Towers, North Notts

"He discovered salt "

And made vinegar malt,

but above all,

his downfall

was shagging a guy named Walt.

You don't get a lot of Ayn Rand around here!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Ayn Rand(om) thought he might be the owner of the toy making company.

I've never read the book so I don't really know who John Galt is except that the question is asked.

Prior to being a grown up what read a lot, my entire knowledge of Ayn Rand came from Rush lyrics!

It's a book that I read in my late teens. And was mightily impressed. Then I re-read it in my early 40s, and was appalled.

But the Galt character is an intriguing one. Worth a read anyway.

She has some strange philosophies does Ms. Rand, almost right-wing Marxism...very odd bedfellows!

She sure did. And it's still mighty popular at some US universities.

When I first read her essay on Objectivism I was bowled over.

Second time... erm. First time in my life I felt I had progressed

in a Very Good Way.

I thought objectivism was the way we were headed. Self-interest and self-promotion instead of all that soppy altruism.

No, we are going through objectifying first.

Heading back towards old fashioned Marxism is where we're heading! And not in a good way.

"Heading back towards old fashioned Marxism is where we're heading! And not in a good way."

If we're moving from capitalism to communism Marx would say that's forwards, not backwards.

You don't need to read Atlas Shrugged anymore... You can just read the news.
