Laid here in agony, fell and twisted my ankle yesterday afternoon before driving 200 miles home, felt ok as I went to bed, but now laid here wide awake with tears streaming as I try to put pressure on it... Now I really don't fancy a trip to a&e as it will be my second this week but anyone any ideas why it's ok one minute and not a few hours later...

Need to know basis

I am always twisting my ankles. Depending on whether you torn a ligament it might be best to go to a&e.

Something that worked for me was: fill a basin with hot water and add a glass full of salt...soak your foot and ankle in it for at good 30 mins or until the water temp is tepid. The water must be hot but not scalding hot.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, it felt ok once I had a hot bath earlier but now is hurting that much I just can't do anything, just what I need for my first day back at work, if still hurting tomorrow will head to a&e x

that happened to me in oct 2013

was fine one minute then couldn't put any pressure on

ended up at a & e via ambulance

and was a fractured 5th metatarsal

and to inject myself every day to stop blood clots and now have a cannulated screw fixtation and in constant pain

took 10months of cast work and airboots and shoes and still not right

id advise you to go to save any later complications

even if its a torn ligament or servere strain they whack a cast on and ul be good to go

feel free to inbox any questions

ibuprofen will help with the inflammation, if it's not something more serious will help with the healing as well.

I'd offer you some of my codeine but you're too far away :p
