I would have thought so Kitty, after all you are paying for a service that isn't being provided.

if he not is business as a courier then he should refund it...if just for delivery then you're stuck with the bill.

Unless he lives in the same street, surely it'll cost him to deliver it to you? sounds like he's doing you a favour.

i dont mind paying a fair delivery charge at all, but i dont like how he is trying to change me the same price if he used a courour, it just dont sit right with me, and also for what he is delivering i think its a bit mean conning me when i am paying a grand already.

Possibly more - I've known a courier deliver something for me for less than it would have cost me to put petrol in the car and take it myself

well kitty if the item fits on a pallet it should only cost £50 at most for a courier to deliver.

That or you could see if you could organise your own cheaper courier service?

O o O oo

Thats what I was going to suggest Kitty. phone a couple of courier firms, tell them what it is and how heavy and I am guessing you might get it cheaper.

Depending on how heavy it is kitty, Parcelforce isn't bad prices.

I would go for a courier service: if anything happens to your goods it's covered by insurance. If someone is "doing you a favour" it may not!

We can recommend speedshift if its under 1200kg and will fit on a full size pallet, normally costs around £40ish

My dad use to run a courier company before he retired and if you wanted something delivered he would drop everything and do it but remember the courier needs paying for the fuel, the time, the liability insurance and wear and tear on the vehicle too!! he had to charge a £1 a mile to make any money.

If you find a courier going that way anyway he could do it alot cheaper or get it on a wagon going that way!! Keep looking and fingrs crossed for you! x

.

Depending what it is, and whether insurance is required etc...

Last Nov, I had a private return pick up to and from home in Wiltshire to Heathrow, costing about 150 GBP.

On the return journey, I would like to pick up my dog from the kennel, and was told I could not, as they were not insured to carry non-people or goods etc...

Mind you, I doubt ParcelForce etc. would charge that much for a package!
