Hitting the gym again this weekend after 6 weeks away

I always intended to go after work at 6:30am but it always too much of a detour, but now my contract is finished its time to commence training again.

I feel gross, probably won't bust out the compression tee until at least my third week back

I've missed my pectoral flys and incline bench presses. I'm predicting PAIN

I'm not a fan of the Bench Press and prefer to do mine on the floor, I feel it far more in my pecs and triceps this way, and it removes a lot of the shoulder from the movement.

I'm only a fan of bench pressing with dumbbells and even then it has to be inclined. Push-press-flys are by far my favourite freeweights routine

Haven't really done those, more of an Arnold press fan, can't beat military though

How much are you Overhead Pressing? Personally I think there's no better measure of upper body strength than a good overhead press, and the Push Press allows you to use even more weight.

They do that (single dumbbell floor press) for boxing and kicking training as in helps with speed of punch and brings in the core to stabilize while pressing

Dumbbells press are far and away better movement to barbell it gives you grater movement brings in your stabilisers more and of course can be moved to give you more of a squeeze at the top all of which you don't get with barbell

You find that you sort of 'roll' with the press when doing them with one arm, as it really helps with stabilising yourself, and gets your abs and obliques into the movement too, I can see how it would help with punching power. The original reason I started doing them with one arm though is that its incredibly hard to get two separate heavy dumbbells into position for a floor press.

Oh yes mate I agree with it being hard to press two on floor but back in the day that's the reason the one was born if you like cos for the same reason u said it's hard to move two in position without training partner but then they found that to keep the weight from falling over there body to the side they had to pull there shoulder stabilisers and core in to play just to keep the weight stable and that's before u press it so really great movement as it works so much of the body in one short move but if I was you I do 3x 15 as range of movement Is short

If truth was told all of them are good for pec development there is no one press better than any other if your talking dumbells as they use more muscles to press stabilizers shoulders so on but incline flat decline they all work the same just find best one for you that works

I'm gonna take a shot at seeing how many reps I can manage with a 40kg dumbbell, my ultimate goal in this lift is 50kg for 6 reps.

I was disappointed that I only got 6 reps, it makes me realise just what a lofty goal the 50kg dumbbell really is. My chest pumped up awesomely though.

I've worked in that environment before - I had to fight the urge to hit the other workers instead.

Any man who can work out properly with 50kg dumbbells is likely working as heavy as he'll ever need to go for the vast majority of exercises.

I db bench 35kg 5x5 . And my deadlift is alright at 110kg 5x3 but progress seems slow.

Keep getting little niggles here and there which really gets on my tits. But it's the eating that's the worst 3500 calories a day just isn't fun at all. Especially if you leave all the eating till late.

Most probably you know this anyway but just spread your meals out throughout the day. Beginning of the week just decide what your having, place them in containers and go for it.

...eating late isn't good. All the food is just going to sit there.

My proudest moment - 300kg on the leg press machine. Love that exercise!

I used to do the whole '6 meals in Tupperware boxes' routine years ago before I realised it was a total waste of time. These days I simply eat when I'm hungry and stop eating when I'm not, and find that my strength training is better than ever, probably because I'm investing more of my energy where it counts - ie, in the gym, rather than wasting time concerned over whether or not I've eaten a suitable combination of fast burning triple filtered low glycemic paleo efficient macro nutrients in the last five minutes.
