Leeds.

It's the first day of the trial of the two men who murdered this brave man. I was stunned to find that they are pleading not guilty. What are they on ? CCTV footage, mobile phone footage, dozens of eye witnesses. Plus let's not forget the confession caught on camera with the murderer covered head to toe in Lee's blood. Then the filmed charge on the police with them brandishing a gun and knives.

They have no shame. They are out for publicity and feel they have done nothing wrong. What's the world coming to ?

I think they plead innocent so the victims family have to relive the whole moment and hear the details of what happened....therefore further attacking the victims family. After all they killed the lad in the streets and wanted people to see it. If they had pleased guilty we would not get to hear such detail...

I think I am right in saying that? Sick fucks who ever they are, and when Muslims are fighting a cause to prove to us they are good people, idiots like this just reinforce the stereotype that Muslims

They were widely and publically condemned by the islamic community at the time of the attack. The basic principles of innocent till proven guilty means that no one can publically condemn their plea until after conviction.

They may be given a court defence team. However I'm sure there will be someone happy to take the job to make their name. You have to remember a solicitor's job is to make sure their client gets a fair trial. Unfortunately they have forgotten that and seem to think their job is to get the guilty off scott free...

They may be given a court defence team. However I'm sure there will be someone happy to take the job to make their name. You have to remember a solicitor's job is to make sure their client gets a fair trial. Unfortunately they have forgotten that and seem to think their job is to get the guilty off scott free... "

Their job is to take instructions from the solicitor who, in turn, takes instruction from the accused.

If the accused says 'I didn't do it', it's the defence team's job to accept that and plead the best case they can.

It is my understanding that they do not deny killing Lee Rigby they just deny it was murder.

Their plea is they were acting in retaliation to the murder of Muslims.

I have no idea how retaliation doesn't mean the same as murder.

They would have been advised by the person who told them to carry out this horrible act and the legal process would have been planned meticulously before they carried it out.

They wanted to be caught , therefore it's easy to workout they probably wanted a court case.

Their solicitors have no choice but to follow what they are told.

Yes its publicity. Their capable of cold blooded murder in broad day light, yet you seem suprised that they want the publicity?

If they plead guilty, they get handed a sentence, get 2-3 days media coverage, then spend (hopefully) the rest of their lives locked up.

By pleading not guilty, they get weeks of media coverage, and a huge expensive trial, then handed their sentence.

They dont care about what their dragging his family and friends through. They dont care that its a pointless waste of a huge amount of tax payers money.

They just want the attention, and to continue stirring racial hatred.

We are supposed to be the civilised ones so what example are we setting to our children if we murder people for murdering? One murder is wrong but another murder is ok?

Let the courts decide not mob rule, mob justice would lead to the disintegration of our whole society.

they are probably pleading not guilty because they want publicity for their cause and to cost the British tax payer more money as i doubt they are probably not paying for their own defence counsel

they are two sick cowards who attacked this poor unarmed drummer with a car before carrying out their cowardly act.

these two cowards should die by the sword they chose to live by once they are find guilty of his murder.

There are also plenty who will tell their client to go not guilty so they can put doubt into the juries mind in the hope of getting a guilty person a reduced sentence or thrown out altogether. Look at how many solicitors are known fir getting people off on loop holes. They are not saying my client is innocent. They are saying they are guilty but.... That is not justice or a fair trial...

As much as i would love to pull the swith on the chair for them , we in the western world must show that we have a fair justice system , the system that they would wish to crush , As we must show that justice will be done and are right to freedom will not be taken from us . The killers would advocate sharia law being introduced in the UK and full conversion to Islam including summary justice and the death penalty. I can understand that it's a really emotive case but I don't get the clamour for them to be killed. For us the fact that the UK has fair and open justice, and no death penalty is a good thing. Am proud that we live in a better more civilised society than Lee Rigby's killers would like.

In the eyes of the court they will get longer sentences for pleading not guilty. The evidence is cast iron they are not getting off. I await to read reports from the prisons they get sent to about how ex military inmates have dealt with them in their own fashion.

I'm not in favour of capital punishment.

Prison isn't as cushy as some would have us believe. I'd be pleased to see longer minimum tariffs and more stringent assessment before release.

If I had murdered someone, I would plead not guilty. Your hardly likely to "do the decent thing" if your a psychopath are you? As for being suprised that someone would WANT to defend them, thats is what a defence lawyer does. If nobody made themselves availabe to represent the accused in criminal cases, then the trial could not take place. Despite their crimes, EVERYONE is entitled to a defence.

Why? Because the tabloids make a big fuss when the courts sometimes get things wrong and don't say a word about the 1000's of cases a year where justice is seen to be done?

Only about 50 cases a year go to appeal on a point of law and only a small percentage of those are upheld.

Whilst I agree religion has a lot to answer for I have to point out that the troubles in Ireland were not only a religious thing. Bobby Sands was atheist and so was many other republicans. They saw it as a war against the British not Protestants.

No. I just read a fictional story about extremism and it was in the authors notes. You have to remember that new countries joining Europe have very large Islamic populations. Add to that the large amount of immigrants it is not too difficult to see how it could happen. If you count all the spellings of the name Muhammed it is the most popular boys name for babies. In certain parts of the country children born to immigrant parents out number children born to British parents.

I work with people from all races, cultures and beliefs and all of them are disgusted by the actions of the extremists. I am also a fairly intelligent person that doesn't fall for the crap spouted by the likes of the BNP. I welcome anyone to our country who adds to the country and is willing to live and let live...

The other month I had a lively debate with a EDL activist on Facebook. I had to end it when he decided the simplest answer was to meet me and 'kick my spine up through the top of my head', but anyway, he couldn't explain how his trying to impose a minority and extreme view was that different to an alternative nutjob trying to impose their minority and extreme view.
