). Admittedly that isn't Christmas related but it is seasonal

I'm not overly keen on being single at Christmas and I miss being a part of a couple and all that goes with it. For me it does seems to be a time of year for couples and those with children. Having said that, I wouldn't mind it quite so much if people didn't start going on about it in flippin September

The hype starts waaaaaaay too soon and most have forgotten the true meaning of it anyway. I'm not overly religious but I was brought up to go to chapel and Sunday school and took part in Nativity Plays but all that seems to be lost on most these days.

Statistically Christmas is the worst time of the year to be alone. More marriages/relationships bite the dust this time of the year too. Also the not so nice effect booze can have on some. Yo-ho-ho.

I'm working nite of 24th and am gonna be watching 2 boys (9 & 6) unwrap tablets (complete surprise) on afternoon of 25th. Also some 'adult time' with my regular when I/we have the opportunity.

We really should spare a though for those who truly have no-one else at this time of the year though.

I shall be working long shifts on the 25th, 26th and 27th.

I've been single for 26 years, bought up the children in that time and I can tell you, I am never alone or lonely.

I've often been VERY happy to say "sorry, I'm working this year"

My time is usually New Years Eve as that's my birthday. My 50th was spectacular; surrounded by people I love and care for and who want to be with me.

Perfect.

i have no kids.

V will be at home with her kids and possibly her relatives.

if i had my way i wouldnt even be going to my parent for xmas dinner either, but my mother hate the thought of me being alone.

i love being alone.

im a great person to be with lol

relationships just complicate things.

i have enough shit of my own to deal with, but hell, you cant help falling in love with omeone

It doesn't bother me in the slightest.When I was married I was materially wealthy but extremely unhappy.Im now poor,single but happy and on Xmas day I will wrap up warm and take my beloved dogs for a long walk,wishing everyone we pass a Happy Xmas (at the same time being very grateful I wont have to go home to d*unken rages!)

job i do as well as is only 3 days so decided to go away .

booked into a pub xmas eve with my 2 pals,

so can have nice meal and drinks.

This will be my first single Christmas Day but I have my children and family around so it shouldn't be too bad! Who knows when Boxing Day comes and the children go to their dads I may find a sexy someone to cuddle up too xx here's hoping anyway lol

Hope I never have to have an entire Christmas alone I don't know how I would cope

I think its just as much fun buying preasants for other people, you could buy yourself some preasants and wrap them up at least you will be sure to get what you want. you could buy preasants for poor people who havnt got much.

I've been single for the last or so years. Occasionally it bothers me, but on the whole I prefer being single.

This Christmas will be my first alone. Family are away over Christmas week (all inclusive Sharm el Sheik, lucky buggers), and my blood family all up North. I'm working though, so isn't going to be a huge problem.

To be honest, I'm quite looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet, eating what ever I decide I want to, and watching stuff on the TV I want to. May change my mind a little nearer the time though.

I avoid invites because I feel like I'm imposing on friends / family and never sure if they're just being nice. I turned my back on xmas for a few years but find it much better now I've entered into it again. Shame the tele's so bad, are there any good swingers xmas dvds? are swingers clubs open on xmas day

Maybe we feel this way because we refuse to grow up. But Christmas is about more than friends and family. It's about Magic, the Magic that only you can bring to other peoples lives. Be it the homeless person that needs a hot meal or the person that lives across the hall in your apartment building. For those that will be spending the Holidays alone, why not spend the afternoon together. Have your own little gift exchange, swap stories, and have a grand day. Or even have a party with several of you getting together. A little eggnog ( the real stuff.), a little of mistletoe and you have the makings of a great day.

For those that still feel that Christmas is still about friends and family, well we're all part of the Fab Family.

Ile be spending Xmas day on a long shift at work again!! Can't wait beats waking up thinking fek just me and mam again. As for the low life cheating scum I met on here who chose to lead me on while dating his new girl, saved me loads of money not sending crap to him in afghan to make him feel better. The money saved is being spent on a night up in Sheffield for new year!!! Can't wait

Christmas, a time for to spend with family, just not your own.

Just my rescue dog and myself; last year I cooked the turkey on Boxing Day and the dog got to eat most of it, as I simply wasn't in the zone.

This year; no turkey, no bl**dy television or radio, telephone turned off and I'll cook scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on muffins for breakfast, caviar with blinis, sea tartare and soured cream for lunch and Stilton soup with toasted cheese on sliced baguette for dinner.

It'll be my first since separating from my wife and the only thing that bothers me right now is not seeing our daughter first thing Christmas morning. Apart from that I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about it.

I imagine alcohol may come in handy at some point.

Whilst it can get lonely if you let it,it can also be fantastic if you make the effort.I thoroughly enjoy Christmas these days.Christmas day especially..Copious amounts of food and drink ..Plus Dr Who!! Whats not to like??

i don't mind it until people start asking me 'what are you doing on christmas day- come to ours' just to sit in the corner and eat food you don't like and be made to feel 'special'

so now i go to the pub for 3hours have a few beers bit of chat go home lay on the sofa with sole possession of the remote control.

There is a great deal of expectation to be "happy" at Christmas and I believe it is this concept that actually has the reverse effect for some. It is natural to look back on happier times and miss "the loving" even more than on a normal day. The same can be said for birthdays, anniversaries and Valentines day.

For others, they can see the silver lining had they been in poor relationships.

I'll be working Christmas evening like I did last year, and many others. Again I will witness people both celebrating this time of year and those glad the day is almost at its end.

I have lived alone for twenty years so there isn't anything I miss.

I would LIKE to have someone in bed on Christmas Eve and wake up with them on Christmas morning. No gifts, just the fun of being together and then Christmas night together. I'd want them gone for Boxing Day though.

I am very lucky I have my wonderful family across the road. I get up, go across for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and see what the children have. Then we open my presents to them and I open mine from them. I go to a friends for a pre-lunch drinks party and then I collect my parents and take them to the family. We have lunch and do the rest of the presents together, have pud and I take the parents back to their homes. Drive back to the family and have my first drink of the day and relax with the family playing games. Then cross the road and get into my bed or watch television.

It works and I'm never miserable at Christmas.

I'd just like to add some sex and teasing to the day.

Christmas has always been a family time for me. I've been single around Christmas more than I've not been. I've been single for the last 2 Christmases. Its a very difficult one, I've done the being with someone and I've done the being without someone. I think quite honestly the more its dwelt upon the worse it becomes. Its just a case of doing your best to get through and to try and enjoy your time the best you can.

I have done xmas married and no kids and xmas living with someone with kids. I'm now single.

I would actually much prefer being single. There is no forced hilarity or expectation.

It is a break from work and I absolutely love it - I still put a tree up and get right into the spirit of it. I buy presents I choose for my friends
