Just received a message full of words which still had all of their vowels intact, and were accompanied by lots of beautifully placed punctuation. Oooh, Ihad to sit down quickly.

Manners maketh man, the basic tenants of grammar allow for the true meaning to be conveyed; misunderstandings and even serious acrimony has fallen out off of a misplaced comma.

That's proper England that is.

Same thing happened to me last week. I was in shock for days. Met the writer at the weekend, still in shock, and the irony: English is not his first or second language!

Did you want me to spell it out for you?

I do sarcasm when the irony is lost on people.

Which one's the sarcasm icon?

I'm not an expert on icony.

This is one of the things I have totally changed my mind on. It used to bother me. It still grinds, I can't help that it's the way I am.

But it really doesn't matter to me anymore. Lovely fantastic brilliant people can't spell and/ or punctuate. I still like them.

Incorrect. Too many commas and not enough full stops

Really? So who decides on the rules?

Although tenants/tenet is a bit of an issue.

Manners maketh the man. The basic tenet of grammar allows for the true meaning to be conveyed. Misunderstandings, and even serious acrimony, have fallen out of a misplaced comma.

You can rearrange it however you like, it's still largely bollocks and doesn't answer my question - who decides on the rules?

I had a message with 124 words in it yet not a single capital or punctuation mark and 17 misspelt words. Had to copy and paste it into Word so it could be cut up, corrected in order to be understood.

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

Like others, I wince at bad spelling, grammar and punctuation (I'm still in therapy over a misplaced apostrophe I once put in a "Would you give my boyfriend's sister ANEL" back in 2011 (October 21st, I think)). However, if the messagee has taken the time to read my profile and send a joke along with their message then I reply and ignore the typos. I don't usually bother commenting on errors in forum threads on spelling (unless someone's being arsey). I do struggle with txt spk that also isn't punctuated - seldom bother deciphering as generally those sort of messages don't include a joke so get deleted straight off.
