I've been invited to a champagne drinks party in London. The invite is for me only. Would you go if you didn't know anyone plus their all snobs. I'm not going by the way

No, I wouldn't go, but then again Kate says that I'm a miserable old shit. I didn't turn up for my own birthday party

Nope. It's bad enough going on your own when you know people so can't imagine how bad it would be if you didn't know anyone!

If you don't know them how do you know they're snobs.

I go places on my own I enjoy: drinking champagne with strangers sounds a barrel of laughs not so I wouldn't go.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I have to go to things like this on my own from time to time. Unless it was work related or a personal friend I wouldn't travel from Leicester to London for it though.

Why are they snobs? Champagne drinking doesn't make you a snob as far as I know.

So you know them but you've not met them, assume that because you know what they do they're snobs - and without ever having a conversation face to face with them feel they're up their own arses?

And they invited you why ??

Titz Towers, North Notts

I would go in full on Tina mode, speak with a right broad Mansfield accent so everyone spent all night trying to work out what I had said, find something to break, see how much loo roll I could nick (not that I need it, but just to see what a posh chap did when he ran out at a bad moment) and cause as much chaos as I could without it being obvious.

Ps, one of my school friends accused me of being an anarchist.

hmmmm I'm a little confused ~ how did you get an invite if you don't know them....?

I like the sound of drinking champagne & meeting new people but if you don't think they're your type of people then don't go!

I'd go. Free bubbly and I've been (and organised) many such events - and there's a lot of 'normal', non snobby, small investors that go - possibly some like yourself!

I see, then no I wouldn't, I wouldn't be happy going somewhere like that alone I would drink too much champagne and make inappropriate advances to all and sundry

You didn't give a reason for them being snobs and the only other clue given is that it is a champagne reception. I haven't said you have said drinking champagne makes you a snob I have just asserted that drinking champagne, to my knowledge, doesn't make you a snob.
