Christmas Dinner?

Was wondering how much would you pay for a 3 course meal in your area in an "average" (a very good venue for your area, but not too fancy) restaurant with some form of local entertainment?

Christmas lunch in York at a decent venue would probably be about £80-£100, which is why I don't go out for Christmas lunch in York.

To be honest cost isn't as important as the company...I would be happy with chips n gravy as long as I had the right company.

You won't be saying that if you broke the bank, lol. I do agree though as I say "if he company is right, it doesn't matter where you are".

3 or 4 courses. The entertainment would depend on the venue, but as I don't do it I wouldn't know.

"how much have you been charged?

£35. That's 3 courses on the menu, but looks like I am only having 2. So I will be querying that. However the best place in my area is offering half that. But an extra £10 with entertainment, which is still only £25. Second poshest place In my area I am going to and the first one only charges £18 without entertainment and about £25 with .

I'm not being funny but if your managing to book only three weeks in advance and at that price I wouldn't expect much. Most places are booked out by august

Going out 2 weeks before Xmas for a "party", which includes a 3 course dinner. £35 is for food and entertainment. Suppose I should have posted this in the Wales forum as the cost of living is far higher in the bigger cities as apposed to a small town.

£30 for a decent meal. I think £35 including entertainment isn't too bad.

Well I am looking at it as one course is going to be cut as I don't like it. Secondly I know people going to posher places and paying less by about half.

Its not a bad price for an evening do with entertainment. Put a cpl of miniature spirits in your pocket... Saves on bar prices.

set menus dont work like that, you book a place they buy the stuff in regardless of if you eat it or not.

if you think its to expensive do you have to go or have you paid upfront?

I am paying £70 a head in a decent hotel for chtistmas dinner, it is a buffet style meal with carvery for main meal. Champagne welcoming drinks, not too expensive prices for everything.

Paid upfront. I know the food they serve is nice and I know the company will be spot on. Never been out to a do where you pay upfront. Just wondered what I have let myself in for. I have until tomorrow to decide what courses I would like as I was told the choices and I liked the starter and main course. Will know more this weekend when I am out for the rugby. I want to go as when I went to these sort of do's in the past. It really puts me in the Xmas spirit. When I do nothing. It doesn't seem the same. Hence why I am going.

I don't think ours include complimentary drinks though or buffet. All I know is if they reduce it because of not having a dessert and the food is up to its normal standard. It will be both it.

then dont worry about the money or if you have 2 or 3 courses, just go and enjoy yourself.

Biggest problem of mine. I tend to focus on what others near me have and wonder why I don't have it. Even when I try harder. When I should be focusing on the here and now. I will enjoy when that day arrives. Don't you worry
