Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Would you buy any of the things donated by the Beckhams because:

a) it was something they wore?

b) it is something you want/need?

c) it is for the Red Cross Appeal?

You can only choose one item so what would you choose?

No.

I know raving nutter fans and collectors will pay far more than me so I wouldn't even look.

I doubt Victoria's shoes would fit me anyway and I know her clothes wouldn't!

With lots of clothes, shoes and bags that she has donated to the Red Cross shop in Chelsea. Clothes from £25.

Because I admire the great work done by the Red-Cross and other charities

I'd be prepared to buy something owned by either Posh or Becks and re-donate it to a charity auction of my choice.....

You couldn't be further fromthe truth. Met her a few years ago. She's stunning in the flesh, she's pleasant, intelligent and a good laugh. And she can't be that talentless as she made more money out of th Spice Girls than any of the others.

O o O oo

I know this is all done to collect money but I always find it in bad taste to give away your clothes you don't want because you have so many to the minions so the minions can donate THEIR money to the Red cross.

OK they could have donated money privately themselves, but I wonder if this is in time to promote something for themselves.

I have the same feeling with CIN etc too, most of the people "donating" their time for us mere mortals to part with our money normally have something to promote.

I remember one year a few celebs went up Kilimanjaro for CIN or the likes, and when they had finished one of them hired a private jet to take them all home....defeats the object of doing it for charity for me, they could have just donated the money they paid for the jet.

The answer would be no for me, I wouldn't buy anything.

I know what you mean but people do give more and change their behaviour when celebs are connected to a cause. If the clothes had not got the added tag of belonging to them they still would have sold, just because they are designer brands, hardly worn and at a knock down price. They will just sell quicker now and garner lots of publicity.

The publicity will be helpful not just to the charity though and I think thats my point....it suits the people doing the giving of the clothes probably more.

On the other hand you are right, they will probably get sold quicker....it just doesn't sit right with me.

As I said, no one knows if they have donated a sum themselves, but they could have done the donating of clothes anonymously and made up any shortfall if it was taking longer to sell if they really wanted to.

And if they have donated money anonymously that will be kept top secret (apart from the nods in the donor circles).

its funny when we heard this on the news we said to each other I bet some peoples first reaction will be to criticise them for doing this.

If I liked one of the donated items, could afford it and it fitted me I would buy it.

I understand thet they donated it in repsonse to the typhoon in the Philippines I doubt even they could have arranged that to coincide with his underwear launch.

I know that they will be damned if they do and damned if they don't. The Red Cross would have been failing in their duty to maximise takings to help the people they support if they had just quietly accepted this donation and not told anyone who it was from.

I don't really know the Beckhams apart from what is shown in the media so I can't really comment on their motives

Fair play to them. Money will be raised as well as awareness for the charity. Like them or not without this donation a lot less money would've been raised.

I wouldn't buy anything. Although I could've done with a pair if blue pants yesterday if David had some.

Just to be clear, my comments are more an observation of what I see from "celebs" while explaining my answer of the question asked by the OP.

I have made no comment of what I think of the Beckhams themselves, just this action...I also mentioned other celebs. No celebs were harmed in my posts.

A few years ago now, but i always thought she was a damn good sport when she was interviewed by Baron Sacha Cohen.

Fair play to them and sure the people benefitting from their generosity will appreciate it, that's what important. Whilst slagging off this gesture, how many posters have themselves given to help the poor victims of this natural disaster? Don't know Victoria personality, she doesn't offend me, though she puts out ( IMO ) a persona of being up herself. David, good to his kids, a model dad, done more for his country than most high profile celebs, rather like him.
