The first symptom of breast cancer most women

notice is a lump or an area of thickened tissue in

their breast. Most lumps (90%) are not

cancerous, but it is always best to have them

checked by your doctor.

See your GP if you notice any of the following:

a lump or area of thickened tissue in either breast

a change in the size or shape of one or both

breasts

discharge from either of your nipples (which may

be streaked with blood)

a lump or swelling in either of your armpits

dimpling on the skin of your breasts

a rash on or around your nipple

a change in the appearance of your nipple, such

as becoming sunken into your breast

pain in either of your breasts or armpits not

related to your period

Please check your breasts ladies (and gents)!!!

ANY changes in the look or feel of your breasts?? Go and get them checked! Don't wait and/or worry, just go and see a doctor!!

I met a lady whilst at the hospital who was diagnosed with breast cancer around the same time as me, except her chances of survival are much lower than mine, she thought she felt a lump, but because she never checked and wasn't sure, she ignored it, was too embarrassed to seek advice. I don't want others to make that mistake!

Thank you for the info. Knowledge is never a bad thing. Oh and good luck in the future.

It's rising in everyone unfortunately, tis my second battle with it now, although hopefully a much easier one to win this time around. Awareness is key though, if you don't know your own breasts, how will you notice a change?
