"I started reading one years ago but it scared me silly. The guy standing in the tower block watching the bomb drop then the rats in the tunnels. I believe it was called the rats but not sure. " That was Domain, where London gets nuked and brings back the mutant rats. The end scenes are just heartstopping!

I'm also a fan of adventuring in scary places and not much scared of anything these days. But I can still read that book and feel my heart race when there's just three of them left desperately fighting a river of rats from the tiny boat before they all start plummetting onto them from London bridge. And the other guy lost in the tunnels on his own :-/

"My fave is Portent...closely followed by Ash. I read The Rats when I was about 8 or 9 (I've been a voracious reader since I was a nipper), I pinched it off my Dad's bookshelf and scared myself witless!" Portent was awful.... made me stop reading him for a while, until I was tempted back by "The Magic Cottage". I read the "Rats" and "Lair" years ago, really good books and I'm not really into horrors. Loved "The Fog" too.
