I'm going to attempt my first ever corned beef hash today but looking at the recipes online some tell you to use stock, some state tomato purée and some say neither.

What do you put in yours?

In Your Bush

I thought you just emptied a tin of corned beef, stamped on it a few times and bunged it in the microwave.

think its a lot like bubble n squeak, in that, you can pretty much use what you want.

as long as there is taters and corned beef in , then the sky is the limit.

Corned beef, leftover mash and onion gravy, maybe some fried mushrooms if feeling extravagant.... As someone said kinda like bubble & squeak...

From my childhood - cubed potatoes, onions and chopped fresh tomatoes a must!

Kent

I've seen it done layered but I do mine with lots of corned beef, mashed potato, onions, whatever seasoning you fancy then I put it in a oven dish with grated cheese on top and shove it under the grill!! X

The way my mum and now me make it ......

Cook potato and onion, drain and mash, add cubed corned beef, mash again. Drain top juice from a tin of baked beans, add and stir in. Put into an oven proof dish, top with cheese, put in oven til cheese is melted and crispy

No , layers of thinly sliced onions and potatoes cooked slowly in a big pan with as my mum used to do it a big dollop of lard and a small amount of water then when cooked corned beef put through it.

That was how my mum use to make it but there are variations of it depending on where in Scotland you're from.

Decided on just using corned beef and onions, looks good but the proof will be in the tasting tomorrow.
