"In a word no. The insurance may (I stress may) pay for the source of the leak to be repaired but the resultant damage is not covered by most polices." I think damage caused by a leak is covered ![]()

As someone else said, you are best checking your policy and excess to see if it is worth claiming for any damamage by a leak though ![]()

"random Question but... does anyone Know if you can Claim on home insurance for Kitchen cupboards as the Space around my sink is too thin and the water has Ruined my cupboard doors Under the sink the wood has warped and gone rotten " I am not an expert, but from what you say, its damage that has been caused over time, not by a leak or accident, you knew there was a problem ( the space around my sink is too thin) The insurance company would see it as lack of maintenance, rather than an insurable incident. If your telly was knocked over, that is an accident and would be covered by a contents policy, as long as you are covered for accidental damage. It is certainly worth trying, insurance costs enough, it would be nice to get some back, good luck ![]()

"Are you talking building insurance or contents insurance? They are two different things. Whichever covers water damage to kitchen cupboards " I ask because depending on your contents policy you may have an accidental damage cover. This may help you out with carpet and tv (maybe)

"In a word no. The insurance may (I stress may) pay for the source of the leak to be repaired but the resultant damage is not covered by most polices." Any intelligent loss adjuster will assess the cause And the effect.... Depends on the insurer... Certainly worth claiming for, because if your cupboards are water damaged then the source needs repairing and the wall/ floor and flooring may need remedial works.... Not just the cupboards... ![]()

"random Question but... does anyone Know if you can Claim on home insurance for Kitchen cupboards as the Space around my sink is too thin and the water has Ruined my cupboard doors Under the sink the wood has warped and gone rotten " I used to validate insurance claims for a living, ie, spent all day looking at pics of problems and reading reports then deciding if it was covered or not. IF the water has been leaking/spilling onto the cupboard doors for a period of time, then this would be classed as 'Gradually Operating Cause', something that has been going on for a while and should have been addressed by the householder before it became a problem. The fact that the wood has had time to warp and go rotten would indicate that this is not the result of a one off incident and so would NOT be the result of an insurable peril. Your claim would most likely be repudiated in full, which would impact your premium when you renew, as these things have to be declared. Sorry, Tina.
