Chestnuts

I'm about to try a roasted chestnut, they smell gross and I'm a bit worried. Are they actually edible or am I likely to be ill?

I love them, me and my daughter have them a lot

just be careful if you put them in the oven they can explode

They are lovely with sprouts and bacon.

Also, they are good mixed in with sausage meat when making sausage rolls xx

been a long time since i had them, but seem to remember once out of the shell, there is a sort of membrane that needs peeling off as it tastes awful??

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire....da a dum de dum de dum...delicious!! I like them best when they turn really floury like a well baked potato.
