Virgin are upping the speed of their top package to 152Mbps. You will be able to download a HD movie in 4 mins or an album in 4 secs.

Eeeeeeeee, I remember 56k dial up, took bloody agrees to download a song

Chorley

It's nearly 6 time faster than what they could offer a couple of years ago.

That's a pretty impressive speed. I get about 12Mb a second through adsl cos I'm in a flat and we can't get cable here.

I've just gone from roughly 4Mb ADSL to 60Mb fibre. As soon as I get my computer hooked up and get some extra storage, I am going to be very happy.

I'd think a lot of people who'd get enough benefit from the speed to pay for it would be clued up enough to install supporting hardware. Of course, there will always be some exceptions!

I remember connecting at about 9 something via my mobile. That was extremely painful just to send an email.

That's OK, with the amount that Virgin throttle their service, it won't be noticed

I remember using Janet in the early 90's to carry out data searches and send messages. Also painful!

And now I feel old.

Back in the ntl era, it was understood that you could have what they called FAF (fast as fuck) if you were prepared to pay.
